In my cellar since release. Decanted and poured and tasted over about 3 hours. Translucent ruby with a slightly brick crimson edge. Very earthy on the nose, some leather and red cherry fruit. Palate is smooth and bright with cherry, black raspberry and plummy fruit. Lots of interesting secondary nuances… briary, tilled earth, mushrooms, etc. Moderately long finish. I thought it really delightful and delicious with a grilled filet of beef. A pleasant surprise on my last bottle, just like …

Tasted as part of 2 pairs of Burg’s and New World Pinot’s and Chards…2010 Dom. Billard-Gonnet Pommard 1er Cru Chaponnieres VV, 2008 Etude Estate Pinot (CA), 2016 Dom. Thibert Pouilly-Fuissé Les Cras, and 2021 Cameron Abbey Ridge Chardonnay (OR). Curiously, I will score them all the same. Each was a fair representation of their region and perfectly typical of expectations, with the Burgs consistently higher in acidity and more earthy and mineral driven, while the others were more ripe and …

We drank this wine past its "drink by date". After going through an aerator, it was very nice. Much better than the 88.7 community score.

Garnet with slight bronze hue. Red fruit, sous bois and leather aromatics; similar notes on the palate, good acid structure with firm tannins. Thought this was possibly a ripe-vintage Pommard. 14.4% ABV.

This should be dead but it’s still fighting on. Very brick red in the glass, slightly sweet aromas that definitely indicate the age, but clearly still a Pinot. Fermented raspberries, cola and a little bacon on the nose. Paired with rich food this still stands up really well, but drunk alone you get those slight Port-like flavours that indicate a wine heading over the hill. Definitely not unenjoyable.

Again - whomever is setting the drinking windows for Pinots needs to reassess. This was lovely at 12 years old. Smooth, fruity, everything a California Pinot should be. I loved it.

Shows its age with nothing opaque and a broader outer band of lighter red at the edge in the glass, but still continuing to drink flawlessly at 10 years old. Superb balance of fruit, acid, and tannin. Captures the elegance and deliciousness that makes Pinot Noir so famous. Excellent with a host of foods, partly because it melds with and complements the food flavors rather than overwhelming them. Overall, Etude's affordable Pinot Noir, that is reliably excellent, enjoyable young, and …

The oldest Etude Carneros Pinot Noir we own, what is one of the few wines we have continued to buy after it was purchased by a corporation from the person who founded it and built up a following for making high quality Pinot Noir from California. At 10 years old, still very dark, deliciously fruity, well structured by acid and tannin, and nicely concentrated.

Etude's generic blend of Pinot Noir from various vineyards in the Napa County part of Carneros. Deeply colored just short of opaque, with fragrant cherry and blackberry. that is aging beautifully at 9 years old. Smooth, delicious, fruity, integrated, and rich. Overall, one of the most reliably superb Pinot Noirs from California under $25

Dark red color with a lighter edge in the glass. Very inviting and nose filling black cherry. The sip is smooth, integrated, upfront delicious, and adds a black raspberry, with an undertow of softened acidity and tannin. The swallow starts with a more forward acidity and tannin and then goes out delightfully gliding, well textured, and seamless. Overall, the best this vintage has ever tasted, just moving into its peak, with not the slightest taint and nothing old or tired. …

Absolutely delightful. I had this wine at the end of it's window. The only regret that I have is that I may have waited a little too long to enjoy this bottle to it's full potential. Although after letting the wine breathe in a decanter for a while allowed the delicious flavors of the wine to emerge.

Highly enjoyable by itself and with diverse foods. Drunk with 6 other wines at each dinner for 5 days , we enjoyed coming back to this Pinot even right after tasting bigger wines. Dark ruby color, very inviting nose, smooth in the mouth, black cherry and pomegranate fruit, well balanced tannin and acidity. Aging well, improves after being opened, and remains drinkable for years more.

decidedly new world in style - one dimensional and a bit flat - best way to describe this is something you'd expect to order off the wine-by-the glass menu at a mediocre restaurant - not familiar with other Etude vintages but no reason to purchase this specific vintage as you can do much better for $40

Very nice Pinot Noir. Light on the pallets, airy finish, full of light berries and character. At 7 years this requires decanting for a good 45 - 60 minutes. Great with a variety of foods and cheeses. Doesn't over power different flavors.

Last of the case, been a good journey. Could have gone another year or two, but the timing was right. I may like the house PN on the younger side, I did miss the bright fruit compared to the nuanced fruit patine here and now.

Popped & poured a 375. Still some decent life on it, so if you subscribe to the theory that 375s age faster, you probably are looking at 2017-2019 on a 750 for reasonable life. Stand by my comment that this is the closest they got to Soter era Etude, but still not there. He had an ability to get an underlying depth that isn't there on this. It isn't to say this isn't a decent drink, it just isn't as …

Drank with a dinner of turkey, dressing, and mixed vegetables. As a fan of Napa cabernets, this is one of the better pinot noirs I've had. Very high alcohol for a pinot noir, which makes it more like the cabernets that I favor. Initially hit with a powerful nose of alcohol, Asian spices, and fruit. Good acid balance, dark fruit, and tannins...not weak or watery. Wish I had more bottles of this!

A bit one-dimensional, but tasty nonetheless. Deep purple/red color shows no hint of aging, and it presented some nice legs in the glass. Whiff of roses in the bouquet followed by pit fruits and some herbal notes. Medium bodied; the alcohol sometimes takes the attention away from the fruit. Didn't thrill; but didn't disappoint either. Cellared since release.

While smooth drinking with a nice full mouth feel, wine is still predominately fruit forward and not overly complex - has no wow factor. As in our previous notes, the alcohol is too high for our preference. It is an enjoyable pinot, but not enough to justify the price we paid - reminds us why we dropped our club membership.

From other tasters' notes it sounds like there may be considerable bottle variation with this 2007 Etude Pinot, but this bottle was very good. Nice balance of tart black cherry fruit, against a back drop of spice, fine tannins, a touch of oak and good acidity on the finish. Paired well with pork tenderloin wrapped in procuitto, with apple/cranberry glaze.
