Deleted, entered in wrong vintage, now re-entered under 2007. Apologies.

sehr dunkles schwarzrot. Nase: Kirsch/Pflaume, Veilchen. Mund: gute Säure, noch etwas astringierend. Vielleicht zu jung?

Stll deep red with almost a bluish cast, so still looking very primary. Rich palate with skilfully incorporated oak. Long, juicy and balanced, what a fantastic glass of St Joseph.

An elegant Syrah which we compared against a much more expensive South African Syrah, in comparison, this wine had a slightly burgundy red color, mild tannins, almost no hint of classic dill, less floral on the nose than the S.A. wine.

Lots of primaries, fresh black plums, blackcurrants, black peppers, very floral: purple flowers. Also a hint of red cherries, as it sits some time in the glass turns a bit savoury, some meatiness. Med tannins, med+ acidity. Med alcohol. Dry. Med+ body. Med+ intensity.

The prettiest of the lot with gorgeous violet perfume, freshly cut green herbs, wild raspberries, and sweet rubber (rather than burnt rubber) and licquorice notes. I would love to set it against some premium Oz specimens like St Henri or Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier. In fact it reminds me very much of the latter. Tasted alongside Ogier le passage, Guigal SJ lieu-dit, and Ferraton SJ lieu-dit, all from the same vintage.
