Domaine Ostertag, Riesling Fronholz

Very ripe and already well balanced, after some air the phenolic aspect was amazing with some oxidative riesling notes and good concentration.

Dry and with botrytis. Strange but compelling wine. Perfect cheese wine.

Improved and more accessible than our last tasting a year ago. Paired with Thai curry chicken nicely. Drink 2024-2030. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 92.

Brought to drink at Oinoscent during night service -/- The wine needs some time to open up, a wide array of overripe fruits, refreshingly spicy, yeast notes, beautiful thin nutty frame, vanilla, croissant/burnt sugar notes, almond, honey layers In the palate, the wine shows medium to full body, highly extracted, high acidity, turmeric spicy, honey/syrup notes again but less than the nose, a touch warm (13%), lime scented medium finish. Opened and paired with mild spicy butter chicken. Pale yellow color with floral nose of white flowers, honeysuckle, and ripe grapefruit. The palate is medium-light, compact, mute, and closed, revealing little over 3+ hours of air in the bottle. This is still very young but has a promising backbone and hints of finesse. J'ai fini ma dernière 17 en espérant que 19 prendrait la relève. Nez intense sur la pêche, les fruits exotiques. Bouche impactante avec certes pas mal de gaz mais quelle personnalité ! Énorme finale sur des notes salines et une très belle amertume sur la peau d'agrumes, le gingembre. Quel plaisir ! La relève est assurée !

Good body. Not very petroleum forward. Ok not great

stony nose. a bit fuller than expected, soft acidity. beeswax and muted lemon palate. medium finish.

De nuevo sacado a ciegas, está vez me gustó algo más. Empieza a petrolear y a sacar notas a amieladas. Intensa nariz de fruta blanca y piedras, muchas piedras. La boca saca algo más de calidez, redonda y agradable. Especiado y citrico. Se me hizo algo menos cansino está vez.

Sacado a ciegas. Mineral, petroleando, hierbas secas, un fondo de pedernal. Algo pesado en boca pero muy agradable, citrico, buen volumen. Con algo más de finura me hubiera gustado mucho más.

Quite intense golden yellow color. Cool and very intensely aromatic nose with characterful aromas of aromatic herbs, peach marmalade candies, ripe oranges, some honey and a hint of citrus zest. Really much going on here. The wine is dry yet rich, full-bodied and very concentrated with powerful flavors of exotic spice, apricots, dried peaches, beeswax, some fragrant perfumed character and a hint of wildhoney. Overall this feels like a very big, impressive and almost massive wine, yet nothing too flabby …

Deep yellow. Musky peach scents with a touch of botrytis honey. Full bodied, exotic but not sweet, lots of dry extract, enough acidity to keep it alive at this age. Big Riesling with some clumsiness that I think reflects the loose structure of the vintage.

Ok but didn't really measure up to other Alsace wines we've drank recently

Stinky cleaning solution nose is not as bad as it sounds, and there's some background floral/mineral nuance. After a relatively lean Cote d'Or white this is relatively full and maybe even flabby if not truly fat, although ultimately it lacks somewhat in the fruit department.
