Sérieux et ample. Belle matière. Prunes et cerises avec des herbes et des épices. Beaux tannins assez fins sur une finale longue et mentholée. Très bon.

Wine Wednesday at Church St. -Oddbods Group; 8/16/2024-8/18/2024 (Church Strett Tavern) : dark spicy fruit and a long mineral fish. This is very classy. My red wine of the night. seems to fill in all the gaps.

"Chryseia" is the project of Bruno Prats (former owner of Cos d'Estournel) and the Symington port family (Warre's, Dow's, Graham's, Cockburn's). deep purple, opaque and with appreciable body in the glass. initially reticent, it shows an elegant nose where rose petals and violets swirl along the plum, blue fruit, tobacco and cedar aromas. quite tight, grippy and fresh, it takes its time for to unwind its smooth texture to reveal layers of plum, cassis and blueberries with an herbal lift …

Brulé ripe dark hedge fruits enveloped by smooth integrated tannins and with earth and dry spice nuances. Full and velvety. In my view in a perfect place. Excellent. For drinking over the next year or two while grip maintained.

Dark toned nose with plums and hints of lilac, the palate is full, dense and youthful filled with ample and ripe dark fruit, salty licorice, ink and mocha, plummy flauvors typical of many Douro wines are there too. Warm year ripeness is evident but this feels still young, could be that the best years are still yet to come.

Inky purple color; full bodied. Poured through venturi. Black fruit, licorice, and a bit of savory briar. Tannins well integrated, so smooth and silky. Lots of sediment. Paired well with spicy lamb burgers with hot tomato chutney.

I opened this by accident, and I really do regret not giving this 3-6 more years. But it's still fantastic, with bright acidity, well integrated oak, slightly rustic, briary red fruits. The tannins are almost integrated, but still need a bit of time to fully integrate, the alcohol as well. But boy it is tasty!

Dark as hell with a translucent halo. Notes of pastries, sweet cream, dried herbs, cherry pie, Christmas spices. Elegant. On the palate shows a little fatigued, watery texture, fair acidity and short length. Little alcoholic. Ready to be drunken. Being a Portuguese wine surprises that low quality cork. Something you should remedy, Bruno Prats. Easily. Ending my Portuguese season. Obscuro como el infierno con un halo transparente. Notas a bollería, a crema dulce, a hierbas secas, a pastel de cerezas, …

We opened the Post Scriptum after having aged it in our collection for about three years. Despite this, the nose was quite hot with notes of unripened fruit before decanting. A little air worked wonders for a delightful bottle, giving us a juicy yet spicy nose once opened. The notes of cayenne were striking. Well balanced fruit flavors are accompanied but a little tartness and tannin towards the back, and satisfying menthol in the finish. Overall really delightful, and so …

Impressive length and finesse. Needed a bit of time in a decanter but opened up nicely. Strong black fruit and smooth tannin. Needs a few years in the bottle but can be enjoyed now. 91-92 pts.

This wine is young, but already shows elegance and balance. At the moment, it is dominated by fruity aromas and flavors. Maybe in 5 years, be more complex.

I decanted this for about 2 hours while I headed out for a bike ride then prepared dinner and consumed over another 3. Though I did sneak a small sip and decanting was obviously the right choice. Very tight and lean when I opened the bottle this changed dramatically two hours later. It filled out with plenty of red stone fruit, tar, well managed tannins, a touch of minerality, and some light herbal flavors. This baby brother of the Chryseia …
