Louise d'Estree Dry Red

Well, I don't know what all the negativity is about. This is a very good sparkling red, about the best I've tasted. Granted, I've cellared this bottle for years (maybe 8 ?) and maybe it needed that. An extra point for the color, which is beautiful: deep magenta, so fresh looking. Surprising considering the age. Nice, fizzy, off-dry red. Thought it had somewhat of an off-taste, so if you have one of these bottles, drink up now.

It's ok, maybe letting it sit may open it, but not happening.

This particular bottle was given to me as an engagement gift, so my fiancee and I opened it on New Years Eve along with some Korbel Brut. We tried the Louise d'Estree first and were not overly impressed, however, having finished the Brut and allowing the dry red to air a bit, it was much more palatable. Would not likely purchase another bottle.

This is just nasty. Pass.

Sweet, light, great as a substitute for an inexpensive white (went well with a piece of Costco tilapia, for example.)

I wasn't sure whether to drink this at the temperature of a light red or of white bubbly, but it's better colder because you won't be missing out on many nuances. Fairly sweet, very light for a red. lots of nice little bubbles. Very tight nose, flavors of raspberry and cherry, slightly medicinal. Worth the low price if you haven't tried anything like this before, but I certainly won't be buying again.
