Foley Estates Chardonnay Dierberg Vineyard

Very nice example of a rich oaked Chardonnay without too much malo/butter. Well structured and good with seafood pasta. I will get more.

What a wonderful surprise. Complex yet clean. Not much oak and an interesting tannic finish. Everyone enjoyed this Chardonnay tonight. Will buy again!

Erroneous entry

scented with lemon peel and fresh peaches, balanced with a good core of acidity and white fruit, shows some white peach, Asian pear and lemonade on the tongue, even some mineral on the finish, well-made in an elegant and delicious style, had with chicken onion soup

Balanced Chardonnay - restrained compared to the typical Cali Chardonnay. Not naked, unoaked, or anything like that, but slightly on the acidic side of the equation. The oak is there but definitely takes a back seat. Not sure about the $40 price tag - but I'll chalk this up to a style preference thing, as others might find it exactly what they are looking for.

I have most recently chosen the restrained style of chardonnay over the "fruit forward," so this wine was a very real detour from that direction. Aerated but not decanted. Yellow gold in the glass. Apricot, nectarine and lemon drops on the nose. Flavors of peach, tangerine, orange peel, butterscotch, vanilla and pound cake. Generous, smooth, moderately long finish. Hints of oak on the nose but all elements are balanced and fully integrated. Definitely a winner, just not my style of …
