Heitz Cellar Chardonnay Pinot Chardonnay Z-32

Interesting, and historic, but not exactly a good wine. Here you find a deep, golden, yellow color with a nose reminding you of Riesling, oily textures and some, yellow fruits and bright pears. On the one hand, considering this is close to 50 years, it's remarkable it is still alive. On the other hand, it is not a wine where I wanted to finish the glass.

This was a fascinating bottle - golden robe, still lots of fruit, nutty nose with a little marzipan and some old Comte notes. A touch smokey on the palate. Lots of concentration and shockingly, still in perfect balance with a rich, full body. Stunningly gorgeous. Really interesting bottle and a good counterpoint to the '00 Pernot Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet. NB this was a single owner bottle purchased from Heitz at release and never moved.
