Oxidised but not badly. Fruit still there. Medium to full body. Long and complex.

Excellent example of aged Bordeaux. Full of cassis and dark fruit. Amazing it has lasted this long, but I would drink it if I has any more.

Léoville Las Cases Grand Tasting (At Kim Aa's place, Ulvøya, Norway) : Clear, ruby/garnet color. Tobacco on the nose, bonfire, and after some time caramel. Great nose. On the palate the wine seems very fresh, high acid which blurs the fruit and makes it somewhat unbalanced. Good, but not great

20 Vintages of Château Léoville Las Cases : This also had some bullion when opened, but good fruit emerged after a while. Tannins present, fresh, noticeable acidity.

The best bottles ('75, '79, '76, '71, '73) from a LCC tasting a long time ago; maybe interesting to compare with recent experiences: A bit disapointing at that moment, a lively color, nice fruit in the bouquet and the taste, but missing the inner core to impress at that moment. The tannins are a bit difficult. The future of this 1971 vintage was uncertain.

A Léoville-Las Cases tasting in 1983,held at my home, perhaps interesting to compare with recent experiences. LCC ’71: A deep and complex bouquet, concentrated, smooth, faultless, very balanced, 95 p. LCC ’66: Like the ’71, just a bit more modest; I suggested a long future fort his vintage, 94 p. LCC ’76: A feminin style, quite mature, not fort he long haul, but much to enjoy now, 92 p. LCC ’62: The pure red ’62 color, vital, accpetable acidity, some …
