This is more like it. Tar, espresso and licorice. Dark fruit and softened tannin.

At the end of its life, but thankfully without any oxidative qualities. The acids have outlived the fruit, it's as simple as that. Cork and fill were great, the wine was fully mature, with a lean medium body, and the tannins were fully integrated. Drink now if you've any remaining, would likely have been 2x-3x better just five years ago. I had this on release, and now at the end of its sunset years; a good journey. 13,5% abv., natural …

Not sure what happened here but not too complex today. Perhaps it was just a wrong match to pork shoulder and fish. In any case, lacking the dimension of the 2001 at similar age.

Retailer tasting : In the bouquet beautiful red as well as dark forest fruits and well dosed oak. Same on the palate. A harmonious wine with good ripe fruits, good acidity and tannin as well as a touch of sweetness. 88+

25% Cabernet, 25% Merlot, 25% Syrah, 25% Sangiovese. Atypical Bolgheri, vines 20 years old. Intense nose, oak integrated and balanced from a load of fruit aromas (fresh blackberry, raspberry confiture) and spices (pepper, some sweet vanilla, mediterranean herbs, and a hint of refreshing balsamic). At the palate somewhat sweet, with important alcohol and polyalcohols balanced from smooth tannins, a nice acidity and a salty note. Pretty long. Very good price-quality

1995 Michele Satta Piastraia, Bolgheri Rosso, alc 13.5%, $32: Clearing of color at the edges..leaves/underbrush on the nose...very Bordeaux like on the palate with graphite/mineral, kirsh, cherry, currants, a bit of woodiness, etc...tannins are modestly present and build over time on the palate..I really couldn't pick this out as Italian but I do like it quite a bit...better with the food..probably will be better in 2-5 more years. from a website "the vineyards for this wine was planted in 1991 …
