Bold, with lots of body and dark fruit. We had this at a Bouchon in Lyon, and it paired perfectly with a heavy dinner of French classics. If I find this bottle again I’m buying it on sight.

[From memory] Very light, elegant. Tomato water, cherry, garrigue. Great!

Nose: Olive brine and anchovy, blueberry and blackberry jam, dark marschino cherries. Sweet licorice and those mixed savory herbs typical of Rhone. Gives a muscular Impression. Palate: Jumps out right at you with good intensity. Sweet, dark fruit and smooth tannins and good length. Peppery and herbaceous with a little smoke.

Kralligt, köttigt, mörk frukt. Ganska snälla tanniner. På näverlur.

Bright red fruits, herbs, and terroir, on the nose and palate. Appealing precision and lift, brawny and harmonious. Interesting.

May 2025 Tasting Trip to Champagne, Burgundy and the Rhône; 5/22/2025-5/31/2025 (La Belle France) : Tasted at the Caveau du Gigondas. Red fruited, white pepper, bacon and a touch of caramel. Palate has spiced blackberry and apple. And a little acid kick. Classy.

Remarkably alive and well, classic southern rhone flavors of sweet red cherry, olive tapenade and earth.

Not sure if it was the vintage or being too old (or combination of both) but this was a real disappointment compared to the excellent 2016s. Fruit flatter, finish shorter, lacking the tertiary notes and bold mouthfeel. Still has plenty of fruit and body and is a decent table wine, but not in the same league.

A blend of 80 % Grenache, 15 % Syrah and 5 % Mourvèdre that was aged for 6 months in large 35-130 hl. barrels, followed by a further 18 months in 600-litre oak casks. Not quite as good as I had expected, even a bit disappointing. Decanted: two hours prior to tasting. Medium intense cherry-red in color, fading just a little bit at the rim. Quite restrained on the nose with aromas of forest fruit, licorice, garrigue and a hint …

Decanted for 30 minutes at a restaurant bright fruits, glycerin, and lots of pepper. Young and one dimensional needing more time. Much better with food.

Very nice gigondas that is a very good value for the southern Rhone. Nose of dark fruits, pepper, herbs, and violet. Palate is lovely and well balanced with good depth and a great finish. Definitely one of the better gigondas I have had.

From the wine list at Gotham Bar & Grill (NYC). Very enjoyable Gigondas, good balance between fruit and tannins. A bit leaner and more rustic than some may like in their Gigondas, but we actually liked the more savory/green notes that came through in this wine. Paired nicely with gotham steak.

Deep ruby. Quite high toned raspberry fruit and a touch stemmy. Surprisingly lean fruited on palate. Fresh, but not resolved. Powdery tannin

On vacation and bought a couple bottles a a wine and cheese store in L'isle sur la Sourge. I am probably giving a better score based upon the total experience. Also bought a bottle of Chateau de Montfaucon. It was 2/3 the price and heads above. That said I am drinking this way early and it is way out of balance , even on day two. No doubt it will be way better in two years.

Color-deep claret. Body - Moderate Duration - long Nose - pepper > berry Out of the bottle, the flavors are a blend of cranberry, lemon, and pepper with light to moderate tannins. As it rests in the glass, the tannic component resolves but the other flavors remain with a cranberry-citrus predominance.

Not really dead or weak, but certainly over the top. Still deep purple color, nose with slight animalic notes, blood, smoke. Nice mouthfeel, quite elegant but lacks complexity on the mid palate. Medium finish. Drink now if you have any bottles left.

Decanted and poured. Mature and past its prime, the wine is more of a curiosity at this point. Although it does not show any offensive aromatic or palate characteristics it does drink in a somewhat abnormal fashion by displaying Madeira like qualities. The color is a tarnished brown to medium ruby. This wine was purchased on released.

This wine was decanted and poured. It exceeded expectations and showed well from beginning to end. The aromatics show roasted stones, camp fire, dried black fruits, dried herbs and earth notes. The bouquet shows a mature personality. The color is a dark ruby to brick that appropriate for the wines age. The medium bodied palate demonstrates balance and length. It is at or around full maturity. The remnant tannins give the wine texture and some grip. At this point, this …
