Bright, fresh red fruited style. Plenty of acids but still balanced. Best to pair with food. Excellent QPR!

Full body, deep ruby color. Intense red fruits and peppery aroma. Dominant raspberry and cherry jam palate with long spicy finish. It is value but not so simple wine. Rich, concentrated and harmonious enough, slightly loss balance because high alcohol but nice acidity and sweet tannins. Interesting method of closure by glass stopper. Food friendly, probably best match is heavy meat dishes but tasted with antipasti and fried potato sausages in lamb guts. Serve 15º - 18º. Open about half …

Glass stopper. Enticing nose of black raspberry, milk chocolate, and an occasional waft of vanilla. Cherry taffy on the palate with tannins that coat your mouth. Short, but not unpleasant finish. Very drinkable, but not worth much more than the $10.99 I paid.

Nicely blended Italian table wine. No negative attributes. I went well with steak and barbecued pork.

Sat, 12/17/16, $2 Tasting (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA) : N: Ripe, jammy with notes of roses & poss tar? QUITE fragrant! P: MF, poss Med, body; Swtish frt on front (threshold R.S.?), acidity reasonably balancing. LONG, spicy, somewhat tangy finish. Drinking nicely now, the R.S. makes me hesitant 'bout its longevity. This vendor's $7.95 looks to be **very** competitive pricing. 14% ABV 90 pts Suckling & 85 WS

Medium-plus purple. Ripe dark fruit aroma with a hint of spices. Medium body with medium-low tannins and long acidity. Fruity dry wine which will pair weel with pork.

Wow, this wine is awesome with pasta and red sauce. Especially a nice old world meat sauce, or with meatballs/sausage. Very much reminiscent of Chianti or other sangiovese blends, but with a bit more depth and complexity. Needs to be decanted and given time, like at least 45 minutes +. But it opens up with nice cherry and deep red fruit, some nice herbal notes and excellent acid as you would expect. This wine is done in a nice old …

This wine provided fruit in abundance with only moderate amounts of pepper and spice for balance. The fruit ranged from ripe strawberries and cherries to darker blackberry and plums – it even ventured into stewed or baked notes. Cassis, sweet spices, and pepper mixed with earth and stone on the savoury side. The moderate tannins and acidity provided a smooth mouthfeel. Normally I’d say this heavy lean towards fruitiness was a problem, but in this case (and for $16, no …

Joyfully simple Italian wine. The best I think we could find in the red checkered tablecloth kind of Italian restaurant with pseudo-Roman busts. It matched the restaurant. Fun but not sophisticated. Very drinkable and fruit-forward.

Crimson and purple in the glass. Sweet vanilla and spices on the nose (takes a while to open up). Well balanced acidity in the mouth, red berry fruits (strawberries), and chewy tannins. Nice finish with tobacco that lingers to deliver a sweet finish.

Opaque red. As Zweder notes, this a a creamy bouquets of cherries and raspberries. The palate has some lush dark berries and cola with firm acidity and some mouth coating sticky tannins. Satisfying and good at the table. Someone brought this to a party at our house and it does seem like really good value in the 10-15$ range.

Nose of strong dry chalky minerality, bordering on musty basement or dirty dishrag. On the palette it's the same strong mineral effect in your face with some mild bright fruit in the distant background. Moderate tannins with not much pizzazz on the finish.

It's hard to imagine a better, more profound wine for the price, just $12 in Ontario -- and like other Cusumanos, it's consistently good and reliable year after year. The '14 is still very young and raw, and could use some time to soften, but beyond the rough tannins that seem to stick to the palate there's a good deal of complexity with notes of blackberry, dark cherry, leather, herbs, spicy black pepper (emerging on the finish), and, most distinctively, …

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like cherry and blackberry. It tastes like cherry. The body is medium. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity. For $11, it might just be the greatest value ever...definitely will buy a case of it.

Smooth tannins with dark fruit flavors permeating. Cut flowers and an almost cola like flavor developed as the wine sat at the table. Brought this to a cook out and everyone at the table loved it and wanted more. Great value for money.

Pop and pour at a dinner party. Went well with lasagna and ravioli. Didn't take specific notes, but a straight-forward, fairly light red wine that pairs well with pasta dishes. Nothing complex, but enjoyable. Great QPR. I'd agree with the community average of 86-87pts. Aloha!

As per others, and my prior note - well liked by the group around table (bbq stuff and potluck dinner). Yes this is fruity - but a subdued cherry juice kind of vibe. Not overly complex, but for the style and what i wanted this is good, with great QPR. I have a few on shelf for these kind of occasions. It also has some kind of "cache" with the sicilian origin and the unusual grape that most people don't …

Sicily is emerging as a reliable, even exciting, Italian wine-producing region. Nero d’Avola is Sicily’s “signature” red grape variety, exemplifying the best of what the island has to offer. This rendition features aromas of violets and earth that lead to tangy flavors of red plums and licorice, with a backbone of zingy acidity. This is an easy drinking wine that pairs beautifully with Italian fare.

Violets, earth, raspberry and tar with black licorize. Palate is disappointing. Flat and salty. Plum and stewed fruits. After 3 hours, palate started to flesh out a bit. Sour cherries, raspberries and plums. Tannins were better integrated but still with a short finish. On Day 2 there was more earth. Overall, disappointing compared to earlier vintages.

Tasted blind – Medium bright ruby, clear throughout. Youthful nose of red twizzlers, cotton candy, candied red fruits and vanilla oak. Artificial. Flavours of vanilla and candied red fruits. Light to medium body, medium acidity, boozy shorter finish, low tannin. Too fake for me. Not my style. Drink now. Average.
