Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. Traditional blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Colorino. Organic. M+ red cherry, dried herbs, tobacco, leather and some subtle oak spice from 24 mos. in large French & Austrian oak casks. Dry, with M+ acidity, M+ polished tannins, high alcohol (14.5%), but it's well integrated and seems lower. Full body, with M+ to pronounced flavor intensity. Great balance and polish. Probably at its peak, not likely to improve with further aging.

THIRTY In THIRTY; 4/1/2021-4/30/2021 : A: Medium garnet N: Medium (+) nose cherry, cranberry, balsamic, tomato leaf, tobacco leaf, leather, wet rock P: Dry, medium (+) acidity, medium (+) grippy tannins, high alcohol, full body and medium (+) intensity .....finsih seemed clipped at medium Good Quality wine here. Guesses: Wet rock and tomato leaf so Sangiovese. I didn't think it was as concentrated or mushroomy as Brunello and so jumped on Chianti Classico.

This is probably as good as this wine will get it and I suspect the age has helped it, judging from the other notes. Really wonderful, lively cherry and leather nose (though I have to say the leather-like notes in Chiantis sometimes smell a bit like fresh bread to me) with some plum and balsamic in the background. I dislike alcohol that stands out from the wine, but here it’s well integrated (even at 14.5%). Acidity and tannins are also …

Delicious! Very light at this stage, maybe past it’s peak. Balanced, but low acidity. Drink up!

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #113; Italy: Chianti Classico Riserva (By BS) : Smoky bouquet with red fruits, vanilla, earth, licorice and rustic flavors. On the palate red berry fruits, earthy, rustic, classical with used oak, fresh acidity, but drying tannin. Good length and some bitterness in the finish.

Again classically Tuscan but with more complexity, stuffing and structure. The nose is of chestnuts, leather, black tea, tar, forest floor, soil, rosemary, sour cherry, and cherry pit. The tannin and acid are elevated on the palate. This finish is medium plus in length replaying all the classic Sangiovese complexity. Lovely.

Deductive Tasting Class with Tim Gaiser (Napa Valley Wine Academy) : Red 4 - Blind VISUAL: Clear, bright, medium-concentration garnet to an orange rim. No gas or sediment, Moderate tears. NOSE: Elevated intensity. There's a real bitter apple skin, bitter almond skin oxidation character (acetaldehyde). Maybe some VA - something giving the nose on this a bit of lift. Evolving. Showing some tertiary age character. Dried red cherry, cranberry. Dried fruit preserves. Non-fruit: generally earthy. Complex. Dried fennel, licorice, star …

A substantially darker red fruit aspect to the aromas next to the '12 CC. More depth, a pool of aroma. Not the present herb of the lower wines. Does have a grassy carry about itself. Palate offers more interesting, silently carried, complexity. A little spice, not much bitter. Packed with latent energy. Med plus acid with out a doubt.

Consistent with previous note. Tasted double blind and guessed Toscana Rosso. Medium plus acid, medium minus tannins. Modest finish.

Moderate dark sweet cherries on the nose. Some spice, moderate complexity. Undoubtedly Italian. Some freshness. Nice acid. Easy to appreciate but still nice nuance. Solid wine. Nothing spectacular but I enjoyed it.

Drank the riserva after the normal CC, and it comes more complex, with more depth and texture. This is very traditional winery and the wine sees no new oak, but the traditional large botti. This is the current vintage so no rush to drink it. The winery shop is offering an amazing number of older vintages back to the 60s, which just confirms that these wines are for the long run 10y and more.

Tasted at the winery. 80% Sangiovese, 20% Canaiolo. All organic. The Canaiolo is a more extracted wine -- adding a darker color and more fruit. Aged 24 months in oak. Darker cherry in color and flavor, with a touch of a light tawny color around the rim of the glass at this point. Pretty good, not great. The acidity overshadows the fruit a bit more than a chianti should. Still tight, expect it to peak 10-12 years after harvest (2019-2022).

20% of the vineyards gets set aside for reseva and then they choose the best and then the rest goes into the regular CC. More notice able dark fruit on the nose. '09 was an outstanding vintage I am being told. "Sometimes a little bit more fruit contributes to better balance in the wines." Two years in cask large coperage, none of it new. Chewy and finally knit on the palate. But for my money the estate is where its …

Ruby red in color with orange highlights. The nose, very intense, emerge intermittently notes flowering roses, violets, blackberries mature and in a more mild and fleeting tannins characterized by pepper and tobacco. Bodied and extremely harmonious, presents first elegant fruity nuances of blackberry and ripe plum, then flowering of roses, and finally closes abruptly stepped on soft tannins with hints of pepper and tobacco. Lighter in tone but broad and lasting finish the persistence with a reminiscence alcoholic slightly burning …

Chianti Classico : China, erbe amare, inchiostro, spinge da sotto la nota minerale. Bocca sferica, largo, potente, equilibratissimo. Si allarga in bocca come un palloncino gonfiabile.
