Chamisal Vineyards Chardonnay Califa

Flavors of melon and honeysuckle with a slightly buttery finish. There is good amount oak too.

Notes of honeydew, melon, grapefruite, and hints of pineapple and spice on the nose. The bright, focused fruit on the palate melds into brioche and vanilla custard flavors resulting from the extended sur lie and barrel aging.

An interesting wine that seemed to pull out the best of the Chamisal Stainless and the Estate bottled Chardonnays. It has some of the brightness of green apple and tropical flavors (grapefruit?) from the stainless with a mellow oak & malolactic flavors like the Estate bottling. It was a strong enough showing that somebody that doesn't really care for most whites and especially Chardonnay is singing its quality.
