The appearance is a dark purple. The flavour is of blueberry and black fruit. I also get the spice, as is often the case from this grape, which tends to be a dark, rich, voluptuous grape. It is the main grape of choice in Chile (they actually thought the vines were Merlot for quite a while). Carménère originated in Bordeaux. Overall value: 4 stars. Overall impression: Very Good.
