Not a great vintage, but a great winemaker makes all the difference. Lovely.

Slow ox'ed for over 3+ hours. Medium garnet-ruby in colour. Nose of black plums, black peppers, blackberries, and dark tobacco. On the palate there are juicy red berries with black peppers and plums; tannins are still noticed. Medium bodied with a medium+ finish.

Drumsticks and Wine Yep, that’s what I had last Friday for dinner and as I posted that very same evening. Now that may not have been that earth-shattering, except that the wine I was drinking next to my $2.00 worth of drumsticks was a bottle that can sell from nearly $100 to well over that! Domaine Saint Prefert Châteauneuf du Pape Collection Charles Giraud 2014 Being its flagship wine, as far as I can see, through its 16 or so …

Pretty nose of dark red berries, earthy minerals, purple florals, elegant palate for such a young wine, with smooth well integrated tannins, medium acidity and medium plus length finish

Although being full-bodied and mouthfilling, this was fresher, more balanced and more modestly fruity than I had expected, maybe due to the mediocre vintage. Anyway, the wine was pleasant and seductive, displaying lovely and deep aromas and flavors of ripe dark berries and fruits. In my opinion, this wine is in a nice spot at the moment.

Just lovely. Garrigue, red fruits, savory, medium weighted. Great balance. Quite succulent. A rare CdP that impresses me with its typicity and verve.

The nose was savory and wild with zesty, dark, exotic, red fruits, dusty florals, earthy minerals and hints of animal musk. On the palate, I found silky textures, lifted through savory minerals, spice and brisk acids, as dark red berry fruits saturated the senses and seemed to touch upon every corner of the palate. The finish was medium in length, showing spice red fruits with lasting inner florals and mineral tones.

Coravin sample . Initially very muted. Raspberries, paint oil. high tannin, earthy and some degree of warmth. Gets better after an hour or so. Will give it the benefit of doubt but I find it hard to think this get that much better. Will not rate until I have had the next go at this bottle. Second sample but pretty much the same liqueur fruit, too rich and too big for my taste, wine. Some heat from the alcohol. Not …

There is more than ample, rich, fresh, sweet, fruit with vibrant acidity, silky, lush, polished textures and a fruit filled, peppery finish, with length that sticks with you. The wine was made from a blend 55% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre and 5% Syrah. This is one of the best wines of the vintage. You can drink it young for its energy, or age it a few years for more secondary complexity.
