Better than a bottle I had. This Latour showed very nice aromatics of pine, forest floor and dark fruit. OF course the palate is not very rich and has a green streak but in balance it was a very enjoyable food wine.

The wine showed signs of aging, with most of its fruitiness faded, yet it remained enjoyable. Predominantly, it exhibited tertiary notes of leather, earthiness, and forest floor. In the glass, cedar and tobacco were noticeable, along with hints of fried mushroom. It had a light mouthfeel, though a bit restrained. The color had shifted from a deep ruby to slight brownish tones. The tannins were slightly drying, and the acidity ranged from medium to strong.

My birth year. The year the chateaux don't even talk about. Nice values can be had for the 1984 vintage, whether these are actually values given how poor the year was is to be seen. Purchased relatively cheap at auction. Mid shoulder fill does not really inspire huge confidence, even less so after the cork fell into the bottle when I tried to snag it with a corkscrew. That said this bottle is way way less fucked that I was …

7/7 quintessential Bordeaux layered nose with surprising persistent fruit on the palate. From a disastrous vintage this is remarkably drinking well.

The wine appears as a dark red shade with slight browning towards the edges. Upon first sniff, it emits a slightly funky aroma. However, as it opens up, scents of steel, licorice, tobacco, matured fruit, and forest emerge. On the palate, the wine is clearly mature and showcases secondary aromas of blueberries, plums, prunes, and hints of raisins. With aeration, the wine develops classic notes of lead pencil, snuff tobacco, tea, and dark fruits. It represents a mature wine with …

Semiblindprovades i Riedel rdvinsglas. Luftad i en timme. Mrk rd frg. Smakade inte defekt men dominerades av mineraler och gav drfr ett simpelt intryck. En besvikelse d den inte hjde sig ver mngden bland andra, betydligt enklare, viner.

Chateau Latour - 30 year vertical (1983-2010) tasted blind (Switzerland) : I heard a lot of the bad 1984 vintage but I rarely taste it as it is way before my time of collecting. This was another reminder that I did not miss anything. The 1984 Latour smells not like horse sweat but more like stinky horse poo. Light palate and color. Dont waste your money on this or any other 1984 Bordeaux.

Color of dried blood; very thin. Aroma of meat and potpourri. Similar on the palate, with some baking spice. Enjoyable.

I agree with HUBAS, its at great wine, with burgundian qualities and a lot of intensity.

This wine stands out from the other 80ies latours that I've tried and almost have a burgundy quality to it (still much heavier of course). it is a very elegant wine

Cork was in great shape given the age. Nose right off was nice...but not overpowering. Given the age, opened right before dinner. Having it with grilled lamb. Tobacco notes on the nose. Initially stronger than expected taste....surprisingly a bit tannic...long finish...about 30 seconds or more. Overall a good, but not great bottle of wine.

Dark fruit hit my nose as soon as the cork was out. The first glass was delicious, the classic Latour flavors restrained, but evident. Within ten minutes, however, the wine had lost it's fruit and body. It started to taste astringent and somewhat metallic. Open now, and drink quickly. *It was better than I expected - 88

This wine had a beautiful bordeaux nose...dominated by earth with a hint of cocoa and tobacco. The taste was a beautiful balance of fruit, some leather/tobacco and a bit of cocoa/coffee. The wine was very balanced and the finish lasted a good 1-2 minutes; however, this wine should definitely be consumed sooner rather than later.

An easy afternoon with close friends; Bordeax, Margaux, Pauillac (@ My place) : Carmine. The bouquet is deep and ripe, organic, barnyard, lead pencil. The wine is not extremely full bodied, but is juicy (cassis) has good oak and a little sweetness. It has a long juicy aftertaste and the tannin is a bit drying. A very mature, but still very beautiful wine.
