Bottiglia aperta 2 ore prima, no decanter - temp.16 ° cent.

Last and best bottle. PnP. Mature and at its peak now. Prune and black berries, tobacco and leather, good freshness, smooth tannin, full bodied and long finish. Matched perfectly to the vegetarian Lasagne we had, drink within the next 2 to 3 years.

What happens if you leave a fairly priced wine in the callar for a few years? if you started with this one, you will end with a very nice evolution. Truth to be said, when I opened the bottle I was concerned that it might have passed the perfect point but in fact it did not yet. The tertiary aromas are now ver evident with vanilla, tobacco, liquorice, a subtle nuttiness/creaminess. Still the fruit and the spices are present. After …

PnP, much better than the last bottle. Dark berries and first tertiary notes, good freshness, medium to full bodied and long finish. Not very complex, but still very typical Carignano, goes perfectly with Pizza, drink now or during the next 3 years.

Tasted at the Three Borders Wine Group, Hampshire, UK. Wines from Mediterranean Islands. Dark cherry colour. Plums, fruit cake on the nose. Rich, full, plummy, spice, leather, blackberries and generally jammy. Smooth with a long finish. Excellent.

Definitely it has improved since last drinking. Plums and spicy nose, mouth follows nose with vanilla. Smooth tannins. Recommend decanting 1h before drinking.

Decanted an hour before the dinner. A bit disappointing compared with other vintages of this wine. Not very pure, on the nose an acidity that covers the fruit (prune), on the palate better with good freshness, remarkabel tannins but a bit spicy, medium length, hope it improves with further cellaring but I'm not sure.

Dark ruby color with nose of berries and plums and a hints of earth. Good acidity supporting taste and hiding alcohol, long finish

Very dull almost prune color in the glass. Slight chemical note on the nose. Very little fruit on introduction—maybe the slightest suggestion of raisin but without any sugar. Lots of earthiness. Some mushroomy fungal things. No tannin to speak of and, similarly, very little acidity. An OK wine, but lack of acid makes it a bit boring.

Too bitter despite decanting and pairing with arrabbiata pasta and sausage. Inky dark red color, acerbic and tart, with medium legs and medium finish. Not good for my palate

Chilled slightly; bottle was opened for 30 min. Then, breathing in the glasses and half-empty bottle thereafter. After 15 min in the glass: Unmistakeable Carignan profile. Rather smooth and elegant. Not so rustic. This could pass for a decent Priorat from a warmer year. Quite nice. Holds on for another 2 hours. Seems in a very good place right now.

Tasted blind. Dark, almost opaque ruby color. Very heady, dark-toned and dense nose with complex aromas of floral violets, leather, sunny dark fruits, some sweet spice and a hint of sweet red fruits. The wine is rich and full-bodied on the palate, first feeling quite tannic, but in the end turning out to be only medium in tannins - there are quite a lot of tannins, but they feel very ripe, lacking the astringent grip. There are flavors of almost …

Black berries, blue fruits, licorice and a nice minerality. Medium (+) tannins and alcohol at 14.5%. Medium acidity. Very nice, smooth and elegant for a 100% Carignane. Drinking well now but likely to improve with further bottle aging.

A private dinner (Restaurant Oblix, The Shard, London, UK) : 100% Carignan, ungrafted vines. Rich colour; sweet old-vine Carignan fruit, hint of oak, vanilla, liquorice; finely grained tannins, fullish body; good length. Lovely now as a food wine, will last 5-8 years.
