I was surprised how well this wine held up. Very enjoyable. The cork was soft, so beware. The wine looks ruby colored, no sediment in the bottle. It smells of gooseberry and red currant. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture and low acidity.

A well structured wine in a slightly difficult vintage that is holding up surprisingly well 12 years on. Fairly dark colour, leads to notes of toasted oak, stewed fruit amid some medium tannins. Finish is fairly long, with minimal acidity. I am surprised no one has reviewed this wine since 2012, I will bet it's gotten better and at this point I'd assess this as a five year wine. Beautiful deep cherry color. Black fruit - blueberry, blackberry, dark cherry - on the nose. Hint of menthol. Bold flavor, though somewhat short on the finish. Very drinkable now; would be interesting to try again in a couple of years to compare.

Nice california cab - had at party with 7 other reds - it finished in popularity in the middle - probably 5th place. Nice color and body - pleasant to drink - went well with the tenderloin -ready to be drunk

Birthday Dinner at Courtright's Restaurant (Willow Springs, IL) : Deep garnet/purple color. Notes of cassis, blackberry and an earthy/leathery note. Very silky and velvety feel to this wine. Plum and dark fruit flavors with light tannins and a decent finish. Surprisingly open for such a young wine, but that's why the sommelier chose it.

Anniversary Dinner at Courtright's Restaurant (Willow Springs, Illinois) : Our 5th course was a Kobe beef filet topped with a Kobe short rib pot roast sauce and served with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. This filet melted in your mouth and this was my favorite course by far. This Cal Cab was a wonderful match. Some tobacco leaf aromas. Notes of berry and spice. Very young tannins in this medium bodied wine. 89+ points.

Shared at Joan's Halloween party. A nice wine. We found this one through a tasting. It stood out in a night of tasting dozens of wines. We bought some. When enjoyed on its own, it still was nice...nice, but nothing really special.
