Julia Bertram Ahrweiler Forstberg Spätburgunder

As always, a nice spatburgunder from Julia Bertram. Drinks well now and not sure if it will improve. High drinkability.

Decanted for two hours in the morning and poured over dinner. 12.5% ABV. Fairly light in colour. Beautiful red fruit, raspberry, red cherry, forest berries, dark flowers, light forest notes, spices, slate-like and saline minerality, and some smoke, with fresh, lively acidity, and very good length. Medium- to light-bodied, with good balance and good intensity. A little darker, and a little fuller, with a slightly maturer profile on day two.

Nice nose with blackcurrant wood, mint and cranberry, some vanilla. Strong acidity, a bit adstringent.

Smells of ripe red fruit, sweet cherries and strawberry. A hint of morning walk in the forrest, maybe a whiff of vanilla? It is juicy and well structured with soft and round tannins. Taste of tasperries, boysenberries, rose, a hint of liquorice and chalk lingers.

Aromas of cool red fruits, barnyard, forest floor and green herbs. Good intensity and concentration.

Bright medium ruby colour. Floral notes, beautiful red fruit notes, raspberry, strawberry, cherry, forest berries, light forest notes, and spice, with saline minerality, good acidity (in particular in the context of the vintage), soft, well-integrated tannin, and very good length. Medium-bodied, very balanced and quite elegant. Only 12.5% ABV. So beautiful! The Ahrweiler Forstberg is not necessarily my favourite site, but Julia Bertram manages to produce a beautiful, very lively, and very drinkable Pinot Noir here!

Much cleaner than the nose of the Rosenthal. Juicy. Delicious. Complex. Burgundian.

In deze Spätburgunder veel fruit, licht floraal in de neus. In de mond medium zuren, veel fruit als kers en framboos. Elegant weer. Heel keurig ook. Heel lekker, maar ze heeft meer spannends in het gamma.
