The score is very dependent on how you approach wine. Being that this is 18%ABV, you have to look at other aspects of the wine at 17yrs old instead of focusing on the heat. Love their Roenfeldt Rd Shiraz. Followed over two days, consistent on both. Color is still incredibly dark red, hardly any bricking. Deep purple red color. Aromas of black berries, prunes and spices. Ripe, thick fruit in the mouth with excellent depth and length. Very jammy and long on the palate. At 15 years of age, this beast has mostly been tamed and was delicious with marinated steak tips and the cheese course that followed.

Volatile, ultra-ripe, and mature nose of blackberry jam, earth, and American oak. Caramel notes, warm spice, and chocolatey coconut. The palate is massive, and although dry, feels sweet thanks to the 18% alcohol. Absolutely porty, and it is certainly hot, but oddly enough, not overbearing. Only bottle in the cellar and it had been there for 7 years. PNP, color was dark purple with no hint of brown. Flavour was softly extracted dark fruit and slightly jammy. Still very good acidity considering the age. This wine was a big hit with all and complemented the brazed ribs perfectly. After reading recent tasting notes my expectations were low, but I was pleasantly surprised

A Last Minute Wednesday Wine Lunch (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)) : Very dark purple color. PNP, followed a glass over an hour. Not much different than our previous experience; high octane, over the top, huge fblack fruit, blackberry liqueur, peppery, intense, huge extraction. I'm sure there are those that like this, but for me it is Everything that went wrong with Aussie shiraz.

This time around my experience was the opposite of the last bottle. On day 1 I found it a bit overpowering, with barely enough structural elements to save it. On day 2, whilst still powerful and intense, the flavours had integrated better. In my last note I lamented the lack of acidity. For this bottle that was not true. Massive blackberry liqueur, American oak and lifted alcohol on the nose. Rich, savory and hot, but also far more interesting, serious and delicious than I expected, considering the 18% alcohol. Plenty of bottle age complexity along with the excellent and pure Barossa fruit keeps this familiar, once past the new-wave,culty, volatile style. Will be interesting to see when this goes. Many will hate this, but it is not simple.

On day 1 (after a couple of other wines) I thought this was really nice. On day 2 I am not so sure. It is heavily concentrated fruit, blackberries, plums and more. It's just taste like a wine from another world to me. Super dense, cloying, ovvvvveerly-extracted, heavy in oaks... It's difficult to not to feel the heat with the wines swallowing. Crazier than Mollydooker Carnival of love and Enchanted Path tried together. Once in a lifetime is more than enough.

A perfect cork. 18% alcohol ridiculous but surprisingly well concealed. Black purple and impenetrable but some brick hues at the rim. Blueberry, blackberry, bramble, leathery, tar on the nose with prominent vanilla. Slightly bitter blueberry on the palate. Still quite primary. Not particularly balanced or complex.

Syrupy, high alcohol. Tons of fruit, too big, too much alcohol, completely unbalanced. BUT, the fruit is so big that I found it quite enjoyable if you take small sips and have some food to cut it. At 18% alcohol, this truly drinks more like a liqueur than a wine.

Last pour 3 hours after the intial tasting of this. Menthol, tar, spices, rose petals and sweet fruits. Almost port like on the palate but at 18% alcohol not hard to see why. The nose is much better than the over the top palate.

Greenock Creek Tasting (Jan's) : Dark purple color. Nose has blackberry jam, vanilla, eucalyptus, pepper, alcohol. The palate is thick, blackberry syrup, black fruit buried in alcohol, eucalyptus, very peppery on the finish. This wine was just too unbalanced for me to enjoy. Fruit bomb is the first thing that comes to mind when I thnk if this bottle of wine. But I mean it in a good way. I mean there are fruit bombs and there are fruit bombs. This one was the latter.
