Opened and partially consumed on Tuesday night but recorked and finished on Thursday night. What a difference a few days made as this improved from my initial impression of 90 or so points to the final rating of the 94 posted here. Stone fruit and tropical notes with hazelnut on the finish. The buttery oak was still present but not dominant. I don't think there is any hurry here.

Wow, the nose is really pronounced with lots of flint and hay. Some dried green apples and pear come to mind and the malo butter and oak do dominate the palate.

Very successful wine for the vintage. Rich for sure with tropical notes and baked apple. Balanced nicely with fresh acidity and a long lingering finish.

Medium hazy yellow; rich nose of buttercups; very rich buttery taste and exotic fruit well held up with sufficient and well-balanced acidity; rich and plentiful, almost too hefty, but manages to steer clear of this; typical rich American Chardonnay (with right level of acidity), typical Pahlmeyer; clearly good and in your face

Perfectly ripe, just at a perfect maturity stage. Still intense, dense, long and rich but no notes of oxidation. Lemon peel, butter, great stuff

I am not a Chardonnay fan. Usually much too sweet and buttery for my palate. But this is truly outstanding. Beautiful minerality. Layers of ripe crisp fruit. Peach grapefruit apple and very light butter and smoked nuts. 20 plus second finish. My lord this is tasty complex and worth the purchase. More in line with french white whites than napa.

Medium golden colour. Pronounced nose with pear, white peach, grapefruit, white flowers, butter, cream, honey and toast. Pronounced taste of pear, white peach, grapefruit, butter, cream, toast, charred wood and honey. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Full body. A good Californian Chardonnay. Goes well with cheese, fish or shellfish.

Paid $74.99. An excellent chardonnay. Full bodied with a smooth buttery taste. At the same time compared it to a Hansel Alyce Chardonnay 2016 paid $36.00. The Pahlmeyer is the better wine. But the Hansel had the same full bodied buttery taste, but with a tart after taste. Smoother is better. I will give Hansel a 95. Tasted both the next day, both excellent wines.

Opened this with low expectations given its age. Wow, were we surprised -- still delicious and drinking nicely. A hint of honey with lush tropical fruits. Don't wait, but if you have a bottle still in your cellar it's worth trying.

Wow....7+ years have passed since I last drank this. Light straw gold. Super. Sophisticated. Oddly, fried bacon on the nose and then some more familiar lemon. Palate is beautifully rounded pebbles and some honeysuckle and lemon the back end. Heady and reverberant on the finale. Very good indeed and consistent across every vintage. One of my real favourite Napa Chardonnays. No rush to drink this....and I have possibly underscored it.

The wine is popped and chilled before pouring. At 14.9% ABV, the wine pours a light golden hue with very thick legs. Upon pouring, the concentration of the nose is very apparent. The bouquet consists of lemon oil, honeysuckle, apricot cream, vanilla, hazelnut and a touch of mint. The strength of the alcohol flexes itself as soon as it hits the tongue, bringing with it a flash of heat on the palate. This brings about flavors of more vanilla cream, …

Despite suggestions to the contrary, the window for this wine remains open. Sorry to have consumed my last bottle last night. Beautifully mature golden color, clean citric flavors, burgundian in nature, just a great Cal. chardonnay, as revelatory to me today as when I first tasted about fifteen years ago.

Bright gold, hint of rust. This is big, in a good way. Toasty, leesy, yeasty nose. Full bodied with buttery flavors and textures. Exudes lush and complex elements of tropical fruit, coconut, banana, candied pear, toast, and vanilla. This has excellent balance, great mouthfeel, refreshing acidity, and finishes with a pleasant mineral-laden note. Outstanding.

Outstanding and such a pleasant surprise. Can't argue the other TNs that this is a quintessential Cali oak/fruit bomb, but who cares? The oak is perfectly integrated, the fruit is lush, complex, and balanced, and everything lingers beautifully. What a treat.

Just a gorgeous CA chardonnay, one that really showcases what is possible with well-made wines in CA. Butterscotch, hint of toasted oak, some lemon custard, still some lingering minerality. I've had quite a few over the past year and all of them have been in great shape. No need to rush through them if you still have bottles.

Head to head blind against Napa Valley stars like Rohioli and Peter Michael, this wine was a stunner. Bind, L'order Mondiale tasting. Best of 8. Oak hit on the nose, but fades to fruit, white grape, unripe pear, nicely balanced, good oak, gorgeous finish -- terrific food wine or on its own.

This is a perfectly serviceable "big" Cali chard - super ripe, oaky, etc. Not offensive, but pretty generic. Lots of better ways to spend 70 bucks, IMO.
