45 minute decant. Nose of boysenberry and cracked black pepper. Tart blueberry palate with loads of oregano, juniper, and smoked ham showing nice freshness. Rolling waves of soft tannins and white pepper with red currant, cherry, and a touch of blood orange and cola.

Quick decant. Nose of sweet black plum, brown sugar, roses, and carnations. An array of black fruit, rhubarb, and dates makes for a complex palate, with an edge of sourness and plenty of acidity. Touch of raisin leads the short finish with tart black fruit, unripe blueberry, and fresh thyme following and a gentle dried herb note closing things out quickly. This wine was eminently drinkable!

Nose of dark plum, wet earth, and violets. Crisp cherry palate with dried thyme, leather, and bay leaf. Peppery finish with bresola, dried cherries, red floral flavors, and red clay. Still young.

Opened this on a whim. Young and fun. A pleasure to drink now as it is ripe and exuberant. Not gamey as I was hoping for. Glad I tried it now so I can forecast if I want to continue buying it.

Medium ruby. Pronounced nose of tobacco, cherries, cinnamon. On the palate high acid, full body, silky tannins, cherries, cedar, chocolate, sage. Long finish. My last 2020. These went fast and really have been better each time I've gone back.

Like the 2019, this is absurdly good. This is both more immediately delicious and ageworthy than much of what comes out of Napa at the $100 price point - at $20. Bay leaf-tinted, irony syrah fruit and ripe strawberries with dusty tannins and bright, well-integrated acidity

Deep ruby. Strawberries and pepper on the nose. On the palate high acidity high alcohol red fruits and licorice. Long finish. Outstanding but agree with the other notes that this will improve with a few more years.

Four hours in the decanter opened this right up, it’s not as obviously savory as the 2019, but the fruit is solid and juicy, with good underlying structure. The finish has a bright red raspberry tone, and then a hit of earthiness as it progresses, so zi suspect that savory core is just yet to emerge. Fun and excellent value for drinking now, and probably going to drink through mine too quickly to see what might really develop.

A solid, concentrated red/blue fruit forward wine. Enough acidity keeps the juiciness in check. Sweet red cherry perfume on the nose develops after ~15 mins opening in the glass. Tannins are still pretty big and this needs some years in the cellar (5+). If you decide to pop it early like me, this makes an excellent pairing with some decadent, heavy food - for me it was beef sukiyaki. Amazing wine at the $22 price point.

This wine is an incredible value, I should have bought more than 3. Strawberry, raspberry and plum flavors with a nice dry finish. A young wine with great structure and age-able…if I hide them from myself. Wow.

Yes, this did have "serious depth of fruit." There was a quality here akin to many of the old-vine Sandlands wines I've recently been enjoying. A very smooth buttery mouthfeel full of juicy, deep, layered fruits (blackberry pie, strawberry, blueberry, a cornucopia of blue and purple with a little red. Really enjoyed this! Versatile food wine. Blue fruit on the nose and the first thing you taste. Fresh acidity and red fruit come thru and just enough tannin to provide structure. Very cool, unique expression of Syrah blend. Amazing value! Will become a regular in my cellar!

Oh yeah, this is almost too easy to drink. Lively Syrah-dominant blend, with juicy acid, crunchy minerals, a fistful of herbs, and just a touch of grilled meat. 2020 version of my 2019 QPR champ. 65% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre, 15% carignan, 5% Grenache. Pours pretty dark from the Syrah. The dark seriousness of the Syrah is the first thing to hit you, very dark purple and blue fruits. But pushing through it a brightness and acidity that lifts the wine up. This is absolutely delicious again and still the best QPR I know in California.

I didn’t love this as much as I was expecting. Even after a long decant I was overwhelmed by cherry liqueur and a touch of residual sugar. Somewhat better on day 2 so it just need time.
