A blend, purchased seems like forever ago. The real trick may be to buy wines from reputable small vineyards from great vintages and hold on to them for 10+ years. I really enjoyed this.

Quite pleasant blend, much different from the last bottle. Smooth integrated blue and purple fruit, nice finish.

Sweet fruit and balanced wine, not very focused flavors.

Ripe, sweet, concentrated fruit, acid minus. Excessively over oaked. Was very spicy, almost bitter the fist night, but much better the second night. Sweet and hedonistic the second night.

This wine seems to be a bit temperamental. Sometimes great and sometimes not so great. We had three bottles of the 2013 and not a dud among them this go-round. Decanted 2 hours. Very strong nose. Tart Red Berries and hint of Chocolate. Up front Jammy on the palate. Full mouth feel. Wet Leather as well. Long Finish. Lots going on. A big wine.

Unfortunately not as enjoyable as the past bottles. Alcohol is very powerful and the flat cola flavor is a bit of putting. Raspberry, but the bitterness is bothersome. The alcohol is out of control. Almost taste like a liquor. Very disappointed. Not sure if the wine has fallen apart or if the bottle was just not good, but this bottle tonight was not showing well. Surprisingly it got better through the decant, but it was still not good. Sad...

Decanted 2 hours Such a strong nose. Raspberry tart, very jammy. A slight bitterness. Some vegetal, even candied carrots. Herbed meats. Really powerful nose, backing chocolate. Tough leather mixed with sweat. Almost like a baseball glove. I know it sounds weird. Iodine, and Blackberry. Lots of stuff going on, but just too overpowering.

Wow! What a surprise opened a few bottles for Xmas dinner. I knew it would be good did not think it would be great. Fruit forward without overpower or masking more complex flavors. Full bodied but not super dense. Love this wine. Buy again

Not sure what to make of the wine. Let breathe for over two hours. Consumed with in-laws with lamb. I don't get the overwhelming tannins or alcohol, but also don't think the fruit is that special. Guess I'll wait another couple years to try the next few bottles. Hope they're better.

Decanted 3 hours. Lovely dark purple Very grippy mouthfeel. Tannins are just about ripping my face off. I will not pop another one of these for a couple years at least. Good wine, but way too young and not a good time to drink IMO. Flavor and nose red apple skin, cotton candy, cinnamon, very vegi. Acid is on the plus side, weight medium plus.

decanted for 3.5 hours it needed it. The alcohol is high in this one. Dark dark purple color. Plum, dark cherry, roasted meat juice, has some similarities to a strong California Shiraz. Powder sugar. Alcohol is still quite strong flavors. Hints of rosemary. Nice over the top wine to drink with a steak.

Decanted for 3 hours. Nice wine, but lots of heat. Big dark fruit nose and flavor. Very big nose. The alcohol too much IMO, it overlaps the other nuances. I have 7 more bottles, so we shall see how this wine develops. Very young IMO.

Decanted 1 hour. Nice nose of concentrated dark fruit. Dark fruit profile featuring blackberry and plum. Some notes of dark chocolate on the mid palate. This wine was nice but i couldn't help being a little disappointed. Seems like it may need some time to come around. (89+).

Tasted as part of a blind tasting of 2013 Napa Cabs rated 95 points and higher. All wines were decanted for 3 hours. The 2013 Gemstone was a dark, red, purple colored wine that provided an aroma of blackberries, dark fruit, and small amounts of vanilla. The taste provided a medium to heavy rich mouth feel. Felt like a Shiraz in my mouth! The tannins were medium. Taste provided notes of lavender, vanilla, and wet stone, some dark fruits. I …

2013 Napa Cabernet Double Blind Tasting at Shane's (Nw Jersey) : Decanted around 2pm, put back in the covered bottle around 5pm then drunk from 6-9pm...served double blind to all but our host for whom they were only single blind. One of the 2 wines I didn't care for as much tonight among the 7 we tasted. A classic Bordeaux style blend with 66% cabernet sauvignon, 26% merlot, 6% cab franc and the balance petit verdot. Dark opaque garnet crimson …

So many of these 2013 Napa wines have great potential, but they are still so young right now! This is no exception. Still enjoyable, but needs time.

This wine is not close to ready. Most of the fruit is subdued giving way to a mineral driven slightly austere flavor profile. The tannins are bitter and harsh at the moment, lingering on the pallet for quite sometime. I don't doubt that there is good potential with this wine, given the high concentration, massive structure and long finish. I'll be interested to see how it evolves over the next few years. I won't consider opening another for at least …
