Slightly disappointing. Justs didnt have much going on. Some light mature notes, but not much,acidty was ok, but very limpid. Cork was good, but very little pressure upon opening. Mostly just lightly frizzante. Maybe an iffy bottle, but it seemed correct, just boring.

No detailed notes. A fine example of mature Champagne. Toast and toffee define the bouquet, with fine mousse and preserved freshness. The fruit has drifted into dried territory, and there are early oxidative notes. Still, there is plenty to enjoy. Drink up.

Siggy's Annual BBQ (Siggy & Jennie's Place, Mpls, MN) : Light gold color. Small pour. Cedar shavings, toast and citrus on the nose. The palate feels leaner with citrus, apple peel, and tart green apple. Solid, but maybe a tougher buy with price point

Fruit of pear and apple along with fine oxidative notes of hazelnuts, accents of burned sugar and chamomile. On the palate fresh acidity provides for nice vibrancy on top of a soft texture. Aromatic intensity creates a strong mid-palate presence. This has been consistently solid in the last 6 years and is drinking on its prime drinking window plateau. Maybe on average just a notch below the 1996.

Very round and harmonious with fine mousse and a well-integrated medium+ acidity, it shows intense and expressive from the nose to the long finish displaying aromas of slightly dried berries, some fresher lemon aromas, some bakery notes and tiny hints of oxidation notes. This was much less inspiring with less tension and very low perlage than prior bottles. I still liked it as it shows nicely aged with medium+ complexity. A very solid champagne. Tasted blind. And nailed it. Oxidative notes prevail with a nutty profile. Dried wood and smokey notes. The fruit then with lots of freshness, mostly citric in character. Fine moussage but any less and this would have been too flat. Which is also the reason for a lower score than last time (95). Advice: drink a notch cooler than you typically would.

1995 Vintage Champagne horizontal (Medlar (London)) : Unfortunately for this it was served in the flight and after the Cristal rose. It made just for distinctly average champagne next to that near perfect Cristal. However it was quite fresh and had energy.

Matter of Taste (Zurich) : Short TN: Beautifully aged Champagne with lots of red berries, nutty notes, fallen leaves, sous bois, some minerality. An intellectual Champagne, very soft, round with fine bubbles and no shortage of depth and richness. On par with the great 1996 I had a few months earlier.

Matter of Taste 2019, Great Walkaround Tour (Dolder Grand, Zurich) : Full blown nutty profile strikes the nose already from a distance. A bit creamy and burnt sugar complement a flavour platter that is heavily skewed to secondary aromas. Fewer oxidative notes than the 96 I found. Shades of red berries expand the complexity on the palate.

X MAS DINNER WITH THE GANG AT CHEZ CARMICHEL'S fresh oysters from Rodney's restaurant apricot nose, fine tiny bubbles, low acidity, a little sweetness on the back end lacking the brioche i was hoping for, but still very enjoyable

Clear gold core - excellent mousse and bubble persistence. Clean and complex nose of biscuit, bread dough and yeast. Just off dry with clean flavours of ripe apple, honey, bread dough and mineral. The finish is long with mineral and some slight oxidative notes. Delicious and drink now.

This wine is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and both 20% of Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. It has some oxidized impressions and is fairly sweet. Ok, but not really interesting bubble.

Clear medium gold in colour with med intensity - developed nose and pinprick consistent bubbles - lots of brioche, mineral and toast on both the nose and palate - med+ intensity on both. Med+ acid, med body and moderate (12%?) alc; The 20 gms sugar dosage (BCLDB sweetness code 02) takes the edge off and makes this a terrific aperitif wine. Clear dark gold with small fine streaming bubbles - excellent mousse Clean nose of biscuit, caramel, toast of mod intensity - very complex and layered nose with some development showing Just offdry with mod acid, mod body and mod alcohol. The sweetness of the dosage balances the acid and makes this a frighteningly dangerous sipper. Very tasty and yet quite complex at the same time.
