Harmon Durand Estates Cabernet Sauvignon Houndstooth

Past its prime. Great nose of cherries, but the wine itself was flat, no fruit, acidic and very short finish. It was dumped.

Dark garnet. Slow fat legs. Full body, blackberry, dark cherry, oak, black licorice. Dry. Soft. Tannins. Aerated and decanted. After 2 hours really good!

Pop and pour. Delectable Cab with full body, chewy tannins, acid and earth. Another lovely '17.

Deep ruby and opaque. Nose of blackberry, cherry, and cinnamon. Some green notes laced throughout. Palate is rich and luscious. Dark fruit is complimented by strong oak notes and dusty tannins. Leather, cinnamon, clove, and cocoa. Full bodied, medium acidity, and wonderfully drying. Fairly segmented progression of flavors, but plenty of complexity and texture to enjoy with a variety of food. Paired tonight with short rib burgers!

Truly a lack luster offering from the Harmon Durand Estates. Then again it had it's work cut out, given the presence of stellar young French Bordeaux's on the night. It suffered endlessly in comparison to the others. The folks at Harmon Durand had some audacity to charge $98 retail for this bland unexciting wine , when $25 sounds about right.

In my opinion it has the potential to become a fine bottle of Oakville Cabernet. Tannic and closed in at the moment. 6 hour decant improved it some but it's just not well integrated right now. I'd guess 93-94-95 in 5+ years and it'll live for 20 or more. Well made wine that will be great with some aging if my senses are any indicator. Deep purple color with slow legs. Oak, cassis and blackberry on the nose. Plum, pepper and black cherry on the palate. Long leathery finish.

Too oaky

Not bad - above average and would buy again for good price. Bold, full of flavor and lingers in a good way.

Opened for two hours. Very good, but different. ......and I find the taste notes hard to describe.
