Lemon colour which is quite pale for its age, aromas of lime, lemon, nectarine and white flowers, amazing for its age. Tertiary fruits present with white nectarine, dried fruit, and almonds. Acidity medium and a medium to long finish. A very good example of a quality Australian Chardonnay. Could keep for say another 3-4 years but no longer.

This is evolving at a snail's pace under its screwcap and it is bloody good. A nose of flint, green melon, white peach, mint and nougat. Intense in the mouth with good shape and flesh. Everything is sharp and clear and it builds through the palate to finish with good citrus cut. It is very long and has some aniseed spice.

Well this has come along from 2 years ago. Silly pale colour at 11 years of age. Reduction nose but fruit emerging from the sulphur fog (not detectable now). Warms and fills out with airing. Delicate but pure, linear and focused. Would seem to have a semi indefinite life at leat based on colour etc. Have 2 left and will revisit in 2 yeard.

This wine gets better every time I have it. Beautiful nose, oak treatment has softened nicely, leaving a great length in the finish. Awesome

Getting better and better. Need to stop drinking them so I have some left, as i think it will improve over the next 5+ years.

Developing nicely with age, still capable of another 5+ years. Oak tannins have softened, palate has a nice balance of fruit and acid, great structure and length

Nice oak treatment, excellent structure, good length. Comfortably another 10+ years of drinking for this wine. Excellent value for money.

I don't like it doesn't mean it's a bad wine. This wine is a typical new world chardonnay, that it double up every aspect in a new world chardonnay, yet I don't find any finesse. If you are a fan of California chardonnay and want to try something beyond extreme, this is your wine.

Bright green-gold colour, belies its age. Struck match, hint of sulphur, green melon nose. Immediately announces itself as class, breeding, line and length. Tightly wound fruit, oak flavones, intensity. This will unfurl possibly majestically over the next 5 years. Long finish. I've tasted plenty of high-end white burgundy not this good. Very good in the modern idiom of new world chardonnay. A bit more creaminess and I'd be in hog heaven.

Stil firing from all cilinders and no rush at all. Could easily be mistaken voor Burgundy. Hint of smoke on the nose. Great balance and beautiful acidity.

The perfect amount of struck match to the nose. There is pure white peach and green melon fruit. It has a whiff of barrel toast and great shape in the mouth. It finishes with citrus cut and is fine and very persistent.

No formal note. Really nice bottle. Best vintage in this range in the last couple of years. Had fun finishing this!

Yes it's well made in the modern style. Nice stone fruit and some well integrated, subtle oak. However, after having just tasted several Margaret River and Great Southern Chardonnays, I was underwhelmed by this at the price point that Penfolds have set for this wine. In my opinion, you can get a significantly better wine for less money.

Well integrated nose of lemon, nectarine, melon, flint, struck match, oyster brine, cashew, cream, pink grapefruit, agreed nougat and toasted brioche. It's a subtle and complex nose. Quite elegant on the palate, although it just sits strangely in the mid-palate, subtle, slightly phenolic, slightly warm and round, gentle, nice saline finish

Dinner at Tonny (Tonny Restaurant, Geylang Lor 3, Singapore) : Pretty decent. This had a rather reductive nose coming out of a screw-capped bottle. Some air revealed subtle notes of ripe white fruit, but this always felt a bit muted. The palate had a nice shape to it though, with good acidity and a nice sense of cut to simple but yummy white fruited flavours cut with a bit of citrus. A well-made new-world Chardonnay.

Penfolds quick notes (Magill Estate Cella Door, Adelaide) : Really nice medium-low intensity nose of rich citrus/lemon, florals, and a touch of oak sweetness . Palate of rich lemon, a bit herbal and mineral. Long finish of herbs and lemon. Overall, a beautiful nose and really long finish.

Golden yellow. The nose shows classic Chardonnay fruit with only light oak. Smooth and soft with a nice round mouthfeel loaded with Chardonnay fruit finishing dry and clean. Not complex but fresh and fruit driven.

Penfolds Masterclass at Verite Oslo (Verite Oslo) : It is hard to belive that this is from the new world. So much lemon aromas, fine lees and wet stone minerality. Minerality is confirmed on the palate along with crips concentrated lemon. Perfect balanced. This wine reminds me of Meursault.

Penfolds entry level chardonnay. Vibrant crisp fruit fresh and with some oak in the background. Complex and well structured

TWE 2016 Expo : Toasted oats, straw and lemon. Palate is fairly worked, gives a bit of an illusion of complexity for early drinking. Not bad but not a buy for me at the price.
