Clos Solene, Harmonie, Paso Robles

Wonderful. Smooth. I believe it’s at it’s peak but will last several more years.

About all I can say is WOW. Mild tannins remain. Wonderful GSM.

Decanted in the morning then returned to the bottle to slow ox. Consumed over two nights. 16 months ago I rated this wine 96, and I am standing by that assessment. One of the more understated offerings out of Paso, the wine intrigues due to its lovingly crafted precision. From start to finish I can find no wrong turns. Decanted for 4 hours prior to consumption. Simply a beautifully crafted authentic GSM with sultry red fruit and earthy sidelights which shower at mid-palate creating a compelling taste sensation. Seamless and perfectly balanced but more elegant than boastful. Loved it now but it may get even better.

Drinkable right out of the bottle. Full bodied, soft tannins, long Finish. Ripe red fruit. Balanced. One of the best wines I’ve had!

Drank beside the Linne Overthinker from the same vintage. The wines are almost exact mirrors in blends. The Clos Solene is a bit fresher and softer with more precise flavors. The Linne was rounder and seemed more muted. On this night, I preferred the Clos Solene.

Decanted for 4 hours then tasted over the following 3 hours. A restrained expression in Paso terms, but beautifully rendered. The fruit tastes fresh and alive upon entry, gains texture and layers at mid-palate which follow through to the finish. Occasionally a hint of alcohol broke loose, but this wine is still developing. Loved each measured sip.

Decanted for 12 hours then tasted on consecutive nights. The first night presented pretty fruit trying to figure things out amidst impeccable structure. Night two found the Mourvedre dominant with things a little more settled. This is an elegant offering from Paso, stylish yet demure, which should blossom beautifully in time.
