Josef Chromy, Pinot Noir, Tasmania

This is a tasting impression written a fortnight or so after consumption. Delicious Pinot and no signs of tiredness. I bought six.

a nice light pinot noir very flavorful, with berry taste.

Lovely little pinot. Very subtle at first. Raspberry and light strawberry note. More traditional pinot nose. Really started working about an hour in. Came in strong then and galloped to the finish line. Double yum and three quarters. Will try another bottle!!

Compex nose: spicy red berries and plums, floral violet notes, and licorice. Not as complex on the palate but still cold from the winter cellar. It opens up with tart red berries, sweet spice, and chewy oak. Good varietal expression and the best pinot I've had from Tasmania.

Raspberry Lots of Acidity with that Crystalline fruit, very good, and pure. Conc: Maybe not the 'most complex' but what it does well is that purity of fruit and thats saying a lot

Light garnet red colour Nose: spicy red cherries, raspberries, hints of lemongrass Palate: medium flavoured intensity, spice, juicy red cherries, raspberries, plums, lemongrass Rounded, soft mouthfeel, medium body, soft tannins, medium length. A good, easy drinking Tassie Pinot, full of delicious, classic Pinot flavours - good intensity, good length. This wine was from a magnum.

Taste of Tasmania 12/13 (Hobart, Tasmania) : {screwcap, 13.5%, A$30} Light cherry nose. Quite tart, acidic (youthful) palate, savoury and dry, almost crunchy, with dusty cherry fruit flavours. Light-medium body & tannin; medium length finish. Solid effort, wants a bit of time. And a bigger tasting sample…

Regionality of Tasmanian Pinot Noir (Restaurant Arris, Cleveland Street, Sydney) : Colour: medium ruby Nose: Farmyard funk, red currant, strawberry, savoury back bone, meaty and spicy Mouth: spiced rich red currant over strawberry notes…fruit carries on finish but then hot bitter note intrude. Perhaps needs more time?

Peter Bourne- 3 island Pinot Noir Taste off (Sydney) : Colour: Ruby, medium intensity, bright, rapid tears Nose: clean, developing, medium intensity, rubber red plum, leather, slight spice, slight farmyard funk, slight vanilla and cream and toast Mouth: Medium plus acid, medium body, medium plus flavour intensity, medium alcohol, medium tannin that is grippy and course. Dry. Red plum and cherry, cream, slight leather and finishes bitter. Out of balance

Tasmania Wineries Jan-12 (2) - Tamar Valley; 1/15/2012-1/19/2012 (Tasmania) : {screwcap, A$33} Dark cherry and chocolate aromas, some rich cedary oak. Moderately intense. Palate has pleasing depth of black cherry fruit. The richness of the fruit doesn’t preclude a proper dry finish of medium length, despite the generally light-medium body-weight of the wine, nor the lightish tannins.
