Notes on Con's wines served double blind (Wellington, NZ) : Tasted double blind. A mystery grape. A mature, turpentine, Riesling-like bouquet with grapefruit and lemon citrus and underlying passionfruit. On palate, not so Riesling-like. An evolved wine, but fresh, with decent acidity present. Dense and quite tactile. After Riesling, I was thinking of the Southern Rhône. The reveal as an evolved, 11 year old Grüner Veltliner made sense of the wine. Good Grüner, years ahead of it (to 2030?).

Continuing my spring clean of singletons and this was a real star that I had kept back to see if there was any further development. On the verge of excellent. Still remarkably fresh with exotic fruit core held in balance with a steely minerality and lemon/lime citrus twist. All the elements in perfect bright harmony. Drink up and enjoy. 89+

Kept a couple of bottles back to see if any development (from 2013) and retains a remarkably fresh mineraly character with exotic melon and lychee tones and grapefruit acidity for balance. Very enjoyable and interesting. Drink up this year.

Unscrewed for 30 minutes and poured. Nose of exotic fruits but more restrained in the mouth with a zesty citrus balance. Considerable minerality, refreshing, dry and morish. My first NZ GV and the signs are very encouraging. On plateau for drinking over the next twelve months.

Really enjoyed this minerally, refreshing rendition of gruner. Hint of white pepper and some pleasant green notes hit all the right marks for a food-friendly dinner companion.

Quite acidic with a real sharp cut, mineral acidity. Green apple. Long clean sharp finish.
