At peak, but cork completely crumbled when trying to pull it. Bottle had some water damage in my cellar

PnP This drank amazingly last night. Dark cherry, bramble, tobacco pipe, and as @wine_enjoyer pointed out, a little balsamic note that gives it an Italian character. Tannins were smoothed out, acids were still very intact with a nice structure to it. This is an excellent bottle, that was guessed as bordeaux. Glad I still have another, really enjoyed this last night. 92-93 points.

Perfectly ripe fruit, a touch of alcohol but doesn't effect the experience, a bright and forward acidity delivering fheshness, juicy aftertaste, this is a good vintage for Monteti.

This bottle was again what I understand as "classic" Monteti: the smoky aspect and focus on pitch black fruits was apparent again

Not the most typical showing for Monteti with the focus on red fruits. Considering the vintage I expected something in the line of their stellar 2006 but it won't reach that level. I guess we will have to wait for their 2015 to enter its drinking window to see the next star from this winery. This juicy wines is well balanced with young and ripe tannins giving a small bitter touch. The acidity is intense, otherwise blindly you could have …

Good, but relatively "light" vis à vis its blend (lots of red fruit and not so much black fruits). The petit verdot is sadly not recognizable in the blend. Loses some uniqueness because of that

I last reviewed this wine in August 2020 and the wine has matured but deepened in its brooding structure. The violets I noted before were much more demure but the leathery aspect was still present. The wine was still wonderful on the third night open, yielding a tingly blackberry finish that lasted 20 second after each sip. This was a bargain and still has plenty of life ahead of it.

Drinking so very well, though should hold for another 5 years minimum if well-stored. Sage, fennel, violets, black currant, macchia, coffee. Silky refined mid-palate, almost crunchy red fruited, yet slate-like with dark fruited bass tones. Infinity finish, just tapers off seamlessly. Great QPR. Manages to be so very Tuscan (acidity, herbs), yet also a classic Bodeaux variety blend (45% PV, 30% CF, 25% CS).

Last bottle of 2 cases. This is the absolute best o the all. This is packed with sweet red and blue fruits that end with a nice sweet top note. Tannins have receded but still present enough to keep it fresh and interesting.

Opened for 5-6 hours then into a decanter. Still really dark with a nice noise of leather, violets, wildberries, and orange rind. Not as good as last bottle as it seamed very extracted and the tannins roared at the end of each sip hiding the fruit. I'v held this case a long time in hopes that it would turn into a better drink but it never has. Not a repurchase of future vintages.

This is the most refined bottle yet. Still a derp dark plumb color with notes of soft red fruits, cinnamon, cranberries, flowers and hay. Just in a great spot. Tonight really good. If

Into a decanter for a few hours but I had to try a glass. At first very tight but as it sits it becomes a really good drink. Nice brownish color with a nose of red and black fruits, a bit of leather, some cinnamon and some rust. I finally have a bottle that I've been waiting for. Best one yet.

Second bottle from this case. Decanted this am for dinner tonight. Very dark, does not show its 11 years. A bit muted on the nose Hard to tell what's going on. The mouthfeel is plush and you get the taste of bright red fruit but the tannins are still very present. Not sure if holding this wine all these years was beneficial. Its OK but not more. I'm not a buyer of this wine anymore so I'll drink up what …

It’s been almost 3 years since last bottle but I buried my last case and just pulled it out. Slow oxed for about 6 hours and then into a decanter. The wine is like black licorice. Deep red fruits surrounded by cinnamon and cloves. The nose is still a bit muted. In the mouth roses emerge with some mandarin orange and bitter chocolate. Still a full body wine that is drinking young. Let’s see how it unfolds tonight. The wine …

Just a lovely wine from the opening to the finish. Initial nose of blackberry which developed into deep floral notes of violet after three hours. Matched well with an Italian style burger topped with mushrooms in a marinara sauce, a good tribute to its acidity. On night two it still had plenty of verve and the nose had evolved from violets to a brooding tobacco scented dark fruit and leather and the palate had a similar structure. This second night …

Generally in line with last bottle, a bit tighter aromatically perhaps. The dried herb flavors, rounded mid-palate and structured finish shine. Should continue to hold if not improve for 5-10 years.

Drinking great. All about herbs (thyme, basil, oregano) and black currant on the nose. Medium bodied, dark fruited, balanced acidity. Finish of dried herbs with a dry, slatey charachter. Digging the balance, depth and charachter, needless to say this is a nice pairing with homemade Italian dinner.

What a great wine! This one had more body than my previous bottle. Reminded me of a California cab, with some Italian overtones. Smooth cassis, leather, tobacco. No heat. Remained excellent on 2nd night.

Evolving nicely. Bouquet of olive, tobacco, violet, black cherry and leather. Very savory. Medium weight, but fairly viscous without being overbearing. Integrated acidic and tannic structure. Savory and herbal finish. Shows some oak, but not out of balance. Improved with decanting--drink or hold for up to 5 years, maybe longer.

Dark roast coffee, blackberries, plums, tobacco, and spices are framed in a structured body that promises at least 5 years of aging potential in the cellar. Some acidity pokes through, so this can probably stand up to some tomato sauce based dishes. At $27, this is quite good. (60% Petit Verdot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Alicante, 4% Merlot)

Quite opaque dark red with a bit of a brownish rim. Nose of ripe red and dark berries, tobacco, spices and herbs. Full bodied palate with softening tannins (or is that because it was in a tasting with 5 nebbiolos?) and long taste. Very nice!

Pop and poured. Dark opaque black fruit. Lush and smooth in the middle, just glides across your tongue effortlessly. Modern and well made but very italian at the same time with its fresh acidity.
