Bright golden color. Enchantinf quince, melon, apricot, sweet vanilla, marmalade, hint of toasty oak, subtle savoury minerality. Waxy, honey and dried fruits notes from the Botrytised Semillon. Lingering and flavourful. Full bodied at 14.0% alcohol, perfectly balanced with a hint of sweetness from residual sugar. Just lovely and vibrant. One of a kind.

Not very enjoyable. No flaws, just unexpressive and boring. Cat pee and skunks come to mind.

Amane. Oh man, was this ever green. After 3 bottles of white burgundy and paired with sushi, this was absolutely jarring, and not in a good way. As if a New Zealand cat pissed in my glass. I'm not a huge sauvignon blanc fan in general (and this vintage is majority sauvignon blanc), but this is a particularly tough rendition of Ygrec. If you can get past all the green, the acidity seemed fine.

Deceptive nose, everything one would expect from a d'Yquem, orange, passion fruit, yellow florals, apricot, tropical generally, crushed stone and vanilla spice. Palate is simpler but of good length. 92

Celebrating 60 (The NoMad) : One of my favorites of the flight. It is the dry form of D'Yquem which means you get all of the complexity and interest without all of the sweet. That works pretty well for me. Again more of a bigger white and to me a white wine that is made for a red wine drinker's palate (more complex, more full bodied).

Dinner at Nico Osteria (Chicago, IL) : This showed a little more of everything in comparison to the 2014 -- the grassier elements were more prominent here, and the oak pokes out here more too. The texture is slightly waxy but there's adequate acidity and sauvignon blanc greenness to cut it. This picked up freshness when chilled further but also became a little nondescript.

During a Commanderie de Bordeaux tasting dinner. Medium yellow. Nose of white fruit, touch seafood, hard to describe but clearly a complex white whine nose, very nice. The palate is also excellent, freshness of the SauvBlanc and the creaminess of the Semillon coming through. A very complete white wine.

Terrific, aging beautifully but still young and vibrant. Full and rich profile yet with nice grip and acidity. Got better and better with 30-40 minutes of air.

I'm not sure if the 2006 Y was a bad vintage or if this is already over the hill. Anyway, this is really disappointing, no more freshness, just sirup. To be honest, I never have been very keen on Y, probably the 2005 being the only exception, but this one is a shame for such an elitist label like Yquem. Let's hope this bottle was an underperformer, as there are some more bottles down in the cellar.

Nice wine. Nothing mind-blowing, but very enjoyable. I thought it was quite varietal, other highly qualified tasters put it in the Rhône Valley for its exotic components and lush feel. Doesn't have the poise of the best white Pessacs, but still an interesting bottle. No rush to drink at this point if you enjoy mature whites, give it some air before you drink it if you can.

Seducing. Medium body and acidity, full of orange peel, grapefruits, marmalade, pineapple, vanilla, cinamon, cedar, buttery, toast, earthy, some damp stone. intense and concentrated. Very complex and long. Well integrated to start drinking. Sexy and zesty!

Incredible. Based on this bottle, if I were king, this would be my house white. Medium gold, very pretty in the light. Rich aromas of honeysuckle and almond. Amazing initial tastes of ripe citrus. Superb balance and unctuous texture. Incredible richness, yet somehow not cloying.

Consumed at the SAFW Reunion. A light yellow color. Complex aromas of white flowers, nuances of orange blossoms, pineapple, honey, and some crème brulee. Similar flavors. A viscous honey-like texture. Sweetish and almost custard-like in the mouth. Concentrated fruit. Nice balance and good structure. A long, smooth and lingering finish. An exciting and succulent wine.

Nice straw color in the glass. Nose of apple, grapefruit. Lots of melon on the palate with some citrus, green apple, tropical fruits. First experience with this wine, so did not know what to expect. The wine grew on me very quickly. Lots of layers with a long finish that brings forth the fruit and tropics. Very enjoyable.

Nice nose of grapefruit and very smooth drinking. Too sweet for for me and doesn't go too well with Chinese food IMHO but everybody at the dinner table enjoyed it very much, which was the intention.

Bunny dinner with Peter, Robert, Ken, wives and kids (Bunny's home) : definitely needed to be decanted and breathed for at least an hour. this was poured after the 96 d'yquem which perhaps unfairly overwhelmed it.
