Really nice Shiraz. Smooth, smokey quality. Gorgeous bouquet. And nice finish. No rough edgiest to this. A hint of fruit. Another good Yalumba wine.

Aged for 12 months in French, American and Hungarian oak, 25% new. Gave 2h air. Offers plum, blueberry, cedar, pepper, mushroom and truffle. Full-bodied, round, simple and enjoyable. Creamy texture, with fresh plum and blueberry flavors and a peppery mid-palate, enveloped in polished tannins.

Unexpectedly not like a Shiraz at all, red cherries on the palate and bright red colour.

Under screwcap. I do not have a ton of experience with Aussie Shiraz, as, well, most that reach the U.S. is frankly not very good. As expected, this is all about the fruit: big, juicy red and dark berries abound both on the nose and palate. The acidity is in balance and leads to a strong finish. Not much tannin on the backend, though, so this is for rather quick consumption. thedrunkencyclist.com
