Needs about 2 hours to stabilize. Pepper and dark red fruit on the nose; definitely cherry, quince, raspberry. Solid tannin and acidic fruit on the palate. Bacon too, but that's been said.

Beautiful! Hint of tobacco on nose, some bacon on palate; softening fruit with excellent acidity. Perfect to wash down pot roast.

Notes from my 10/26 and 6/16 apply again here, and it's important to point out that this is not an overly ripe cali-fest, but a more restrained and balanced expression. Acidic without the over-the-top tannins from a ripe monster.

Dark syrupy red. Spice box, cherries, pepper on the nose. Tart raspberries on the mid-palate, black pepper and bitters on the finish. Mild tannins. An outstanding $12 wine! Buy a case if you can.

Lots of flavor still developing. Fine tannins. A little hot in a good way.Nicely rounded berry flavors. Very tasty. Worth buying again.

Dark color. Aroma has notes of dusty earth, hamburger medium rare, and a squashed ripe dark-red fruit. Don't really taste this, seriously, until it's been exposed for 1-2 hours to air. Rich full mid-palate of ripe fruit. Interesting balance between an acidic/tart finish and the solid bitters from the tannins. Overall, the tannins still need rounding; this one needs more bottle time. A powerful (14% alc) offering that is nice now, probably better later.
