Megeve January 2. Medium ruby Color. Profound animal nose - amazing. Med acidity, Med body, Med alcohol, Med flavor intensity, dry tannins and Med finish. Super dense mouth, animal and leather, clean fruits. Already tasting great.

Clearly a wine with great promise, but still on the ascendancy. Tanins are tight and dominated. It does open up after an hour or more in the glass. Dark fruit and savory notes come through. I'll open the next bottle in 3-5 years.

By the bottle at Avant Garden in NYC. Decanted for about an hour it still definitely needs it. Quite ripe, blackberry liqueur, candied cherry, but also somewhat backward with bay leaf and sage and dusty leather. Very nice now but I’d wait a few more years before drinking it again.

This is a wonderful wine, but was too young. Should be decanted and/or opened several hours before drinking right now. A classic Bandol - briar nose, inky purple, complex purple fruits, great flavor but chewy tannins that still needed to integrate. I can’t wait to try this in several years. Had with chicken thighs in an olive-tomato sauce with fresh herbs - a nice match.

2 hour double decant and this showed fresh, lively aromas of blackcurrant, undergrowth, leather and sandalwood, which gave way to a mouthful of dried black fruits with a lingering, earthy, herbal and mineral drenched finish.

Decanted 2 hours. Could have used another two or three or four. Purchased a bottle to see about the Bandol’s take on Mourvèdre. I was not disappointed. This wine is too young, but this has the stuffing to make a good, good wine in a couple of years. The tannins need integration, and then the deep dark fruit and scrumptious meatiness will really shine. For now, if drinking decant for 4+ hours.

Served pnp, it started slightly spritzy like a Beaujolais, but the CO2 quickly disappeared. Not as approachable as my last bottle, but there was no brett here. Delicious, but I’d love to save one for 10 years.

Coravin pour. Very deep magenta color. Cherry, raspberry, lemon, and rye. Very dry, satiny palate. Soft tannins on the longish finish. Nice texture and very elegant, but not my style. Part of a lineup prepared by the manager of SOMM (Hong Kong) to introduce me to some new reds during a late breakfast. Very educational tasting.

Nose: Blackberry, thyme, black licorice, earth. Palate: Blackberry, blueberry, black pepper, dirt. High, grippy tannins, medium+ acidity, medium body. I can sense the alcohol, but I feel it's well balanced between the acidity, tannin, and fruit. Feels a little closed. I'd like to get a couple more bottles to see how they do with a few years on them.

Goûté il y a 2 mois sur le fruit et la rondeur, il semble s’être refermé, tendu. Salin, pur, sur la mûre discrète, les épices, il s’avère là peut causant et plutôt sérieux. C’est très bon, équilibré, avec une très belle mineralité et du soleil. Phase de fermeture? 91++

touch of funk on opening which faded after some time. the wine evolved in the 4+ hours we spent drinking it. black fruit, hard-stemmed herbs, earth on the nose. serious, but balanced, tannin and acid. drank this too young, but wow!

This is drinking terrifically well now! A touch of brett after opening, but it dissipated quickly and was never overpowering. This wine shows the epitome of garrigue along with lush red fruit, balanced tannins, and plenty of power to keep our rack of lamb in check. Drink now with a decant or cellar it for 10 years.

Loved this bottle. Consensus seems to be that these get better with age but this was so delicious straight out of the bottle. Very expressive nose. It was alive with a perfect balance of fruit, acidity, tannins, and rustic herbal notes.There is a strong sense of the wine being from a specific place. Quality is extremely high and the experience was very pleasurable.

Pop and pour, and it is shockingly fruit forward. Feels like super ripe Contra Costa Mataro. Fast forward an hour, and the middle has filled out with deeply savory tones, and herbal notes. Go forward another hour, and the teeth come out. Tannins clamp down on the finish, to remind me that this is Bandol, not California. Still, it was a shocking level of fruit. By the bottle at Daedalus in Burlington, VT. Decanted for about an hour, it definitely needed it. But now it’s in a solid place. Nose is dusty, black fruits, deep and savory and herby. Palate is surprisingly fresh, candied cherries, cola notes, beautiful stuff right now, obviously has plenty of life left. Baller stuff.

Such a classic, even if this is just an infant. Took a small taste off the bottle and then decanted for 6+ hours before dinner and it didn’t flinch a bit (my loss for drinking this so young I guess). Feels a bit closed up right now but still so rich and joyful.
