Domaine Lafarge Vial, Fleurie

Pop as I had a corked bottle. Beautiful melange of sweet red and blue fruits, fresh cut flowers and some honeycomb. Delicious drink that’s hard to put down. Best side of Beaujolais.

RN74; 10/5/2024-10/11/2024 (Beaune, France) : Honestly it would be a lot easier to drink gamay -- that most insipid of Burgundian grapes that Philip the Bold tried so hard to stamp out -- if it were made like this. Drinks like a proper wine, without the unfortunate sucralose notes that you find in many other iterations. Of course this is about lightness, freshness, and red fruit, and it is all here in spades. Juicy and fun.

Visites au Domaine Michel Lafarge (21 mars et 28 juin 2024) (Au domaine) : Un assemblage des parcelles sur les lieux-dits Belair et Cercillon, tout comme leur Chirouble. Les deux appellations s'y rejoignent. Nez floral charmeur. Bouche fraiche et pleine de fruit, très joli. 91 pts
