Amazing aged second wine of Chateau Margaux. Probably a bit behind the peak. Still a lot of dark fruit, blackcurrant, plum, balsamic notes, earthy, leather. Integrated tannins, long finish.

Not off but disappointing - didn't really have any vigour or fruit left in it

Initial nose of barnyard and black earth. Needs lots of air. Eventually the nose opens up to some blue fruits, with some minerals and that sweet Margaux perfume. It’s soft in the mouth with perhaps some chocolate, mint and graphite. Decent finish. Maybe a sign of the vintage but I expected a bit more. Lacks focus. Needs 3-4 hours of air or 5 more years. 91 with limited upside.

Saturday evening at ES BK with Davyd Ramblings gang. Drank in Grassl Cru. Tasted blind. Apperance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of fragrant milky vanilla oak, maraschino cherry, black cherries, earth. Developing. On the palate, dry, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol (13%), very smooth high tannins, sneaky full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of smooth velvety leather, Maraschino cherry, black cherries, earth, some savoury mushroom. Long finish with graphite. Very very …

Paired with Bison Filet with port and rosemary sauce. Classy nose with medium aromatics of spices, black currant and a touch of cedar. Palate is silky, smooth, medium bodied with yet some nice elegance and Margaux finesse. The length is ok at best, probably the somewhat deceiving 2006 vintage, would have rated higher otherwise, but still nice .91-92 Pour accompagner un filet de bison suce porto romarin entre autres. Nez moyennement aromatique mais avec une belle classe sur les épices, …

Nice ripe blue and black fruits with hints of earthy cumin and toasted licorice on the initial nose. After sometime in the glass, the sweet fruit receded and herbaceous, toasty oak and stony mineral notes emerged. Interesting transitions. The herbaceous, toasty oak and earthy cumin notes defined the smooth and warming palate. Medium bodied with a rounded structure, just some fresh acidity at the end of the palate. Finish is equally smooth with some grippy tannins which are not unpleasant. …

I think this needs drinking up as not as good as my previous 2 bottles. very perfumed with typical cedarwood, graphite and blackcurrant fruit. Delicate fruit, soft tannins and plenty of body. It's not as good as the 2004 I had and at current prices of over £160 a bottle it's expensive. Glad I bought En Primeur at a a fraction of the cost. 89 points

Nice wine. From a magnum. With a beef filet. Would wait another 5 years and try it again.

Light aromas of cherry blossom, earth and kirsch attract you to the medium bodied, elegant, finesse styled, red berry wine. This is ready for prime time drinking.

Trotzdem lecker!

Decanted for 3 hours. For the price, this was a VERY disappointing wine. Not much to say really.

wow, second wine of a first growth? Seriously, they should have been embarrassed to release this. This is the equivalent of a well-made, $35 Aussie Cabernet. The 2000 version of this wine is awesome, but this vintage err, well, it just sucks. For a $35 AUD wine, this is reasonable value, but at $100-150, somebody must be wetting their pants laughing.

Floral, with a touch of blackcurrant and pencil shavings. It's medium bodied and is well balanced and drinking very well. Think it will drink for a few more years. Will it improve, I'm not so sure but it's nice right now so I'm not bothered. 91 points

Way better than the last bottle I tasted. This is fresh, medium bodied, noticeable but balanced tannins. Plenty of fruit. Good value at the price I paid. Time to drink up, don't think it will get too much better

With a developed character, you can see this in the color, on the palate and in the nose, the wine is soft, elegant and refined, medium bodied, on the fresh, subtle side of the style range. This is probably drinking at peak and while there is no real hurry to drink it, there is no reason to age it any longer either.

This really opened up in the glass to display a beautiful expression of Margaux. Expressive floral and red fruit aromatics, and loads of fruit and earth on the palate. Such a great example of the vintage and appellation. ++

Black current aroma and bouquet, mild smoky/oaky nose. The one has reached to a drinkable period now (2016) and should last for another 2-3 years before walking down toward the hill. Well balanced! Less body and structure than Les Forts de Latour, while it is more aromatic than LFDL. This is somewhat expected as Margaux also shows the similar characteristics comparing to Latour.
