Cignomoro Primitivo di Manduria 80 Vecchie Vigne

Tasted after a 30 minute decant. Dark ruby in colour with restrained aromas of somewhat jammy black fruit & chocolate. On the palate, full bodied, both juicy & jammy, black fruit, boysenberry/blackberry, herbal/sage, caramel, well integrated background oak, medium acidity, medium soft tannins with a long finish to pepper, licorice & sour cherry. Really good flavour & not heavy or cumbersome. Still great flavour on night #3.

Decanted a portion with stir and it opened over 1-2 hrs. Vacuvin’d the rest. Took about an hour to fully open on day 3 after decanting with stir. Medium to deep ruby color. 👃🏻 cherry cordial, red cassis, slightly floral 👅 cherry, red cassis, a little black pepper, plum, dried cranberry with 30-33 sec finish Drying tannins on the midpalate. Double decanted a portion with stir and it opened within 1/2 hr easily. Vacuvin’d the rest and similar findings on day 2 and 3 except it opened more quickly. Deep ruby color. 👃🏻 a little mushroom and dried cranberry and raspberry 👅 hint of black licorice, mild black pepper, tart cherry with about 35 sec finish and some drying tannins on the midpalate but not overly done. Dark ruby color with bold aromas of black licorice, black pepper, cherry, and tobacco. Hint of chocolate on the palate. The finish is voluptuous with soft, velvety tannins.

4.8. Medium ruby. Nose has huge ash, almost ashtray, with some cherry, black currant hiding in the wings. M+ acid, m tannin, high %, dry, full body. Raisin, fig, prune, herbal something. Medium+ finish, headed to a tart cherry, cranberry, and spice. Outstanding. What an amazing drink.

The best primitivo i’ve ever had.

Thoroughly enjoyed this great primitivo. Fruity burst on the nose, with prominent cherry notes. Hints of coffee and tobacco too. Fantastic!
