Dark Horse Vineyard Meritage

My last bottle. I think what I'm seeing here is the fruit and earthiness from the merlot fading, while the tannins from the cab are not integrating to keep up. So what we've got here is now an overly grippy, spit-sapping, out-of-balance wine. Not terrible and fine with red meat, but no longer nearly as enjoyable as when I first had this.

Similar to previous note, possibly fading a bit. Drink up!

93 Jan 2022 👃 black cherry, ripe strawberry, stems. 👅 Smooth, balanced, smoked meat, black pepper, oak, nutmeg, herbal, all over a base of black cherry. Complex. A thinker. Very good sipper, doesn't blow you away though.

Wasn’t my thing

60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc

It was a nice wine but it had a short finish and the notes detected on the nose seemed muted on the palate

Sitting in my air conditioned house watching the outside temperature blow through 43 degrees for the fourth day in a row and truly enjoying this massive Bordeaux blend. High intensity everything with strawberry and red cherry aromas. Dry, high acidity and tannin, full body and high alcohol. Flavours of cherry, raspberry, vanilla and strawberry leading to a lengthy finish. A few years of aging will bring out the tertiaries and add the last half ⭐️. As of now, still outstanding.

Big & bold. Gorgeous with a delicious steak. Full dark berry & musky taste. Loved it.

I like this one Tabaco and cherry on the nose and the finish is long and lingering Dark horse has not disappointed me

Excellent wine. Especially good with a rich cheese and meal.

Drinking really well now. Big and bold, lots of dark fruits coming through. An excellent wine.

Full bodied wonderful wine. 9/10
