Nice, and still quite fresh (it is under screwcap, after all), so no rush to drink this one. A pinot-blanc-ey nose. Kinda burgundian, even, really. Some slight petrol on the palate but it's minor. Good mineral lift to it, with a moderate finish, maybe even a touch of heat. I liked this a lot, especially on the second day. 12.5%, imported by Domaine Select.

Nice petrol nose, medium bodied, balanced, paired well with spicy Asian. Easy to drink as it wasn't very challenging.

Austrian Riesling Wine Tasting (City Winery - Chicago, IL) : Straightforward, yummy riesling. Has nice fruit, good acidity and a floral nose. For me, this lacked the exoticism necessary to move this in the upper echelon of rieslings.

Nose of pear and dried apricots. Honeysuckle and sparkling ripe fruits with a stony background. More stones and minerals on the finish.

I like this. Not terribly complex, but enough so to make it interesting, and enough acidity and minerality make it a good food wine. Light straw in color. Rubber nose that mostly burns off with air to reveal some white flower, honeysuckle, apricot, bread, and a little wet grass. Medium bodied with a bit of a viscous mouth feel, and notes of peach, apricot, lemon peel, and minerals, with medium acidity and a light finish. Kinda wish I'd gotten more …

The last bottle of a six-pack. A nice entry level dry Riesling with good cut and focus, although it could use more sap and length. Nice food wine.

Another consistant showing. Simple, refreshing, crisp, light and airy.

Good, everyday riesling. Light yellow in the glass. Citrus fruit notes, unobtrusive floral tones, sea shells. Good acidity. Short finish. Compliments authentic, spicy dishes well, but would not work as an aperitif.

I'm going through these like water, as I seem to pull one when I need an uncomplicated, food friendly wine that matches well with mildly spicy cuisine. Not much depth, but well mannered.

Same as before. Citric, lean, crisp. Nice food wine, but perhaps a bit more depth and length would be nicer.

Another good sample. A decent varietally and regionally correct wine. Perhaps a bit on the under-ripe side, as this did show a bit more green tartness than I would like, but a solid effort. This showed a bit better on day two.

A good, correct, well balanced effort. Leaning towards the fruity side with peach, apples and citrus. Some ginger and sassparilla. Seems a bit round, but the medium acidty does just kick in enough to provide structure. Not much minerality here. A bit clipped in the finish. Very nice QPR, overall.

Leth Tasting with Franz Leth (Block 7 Wine Co. - Houston) : Floral nose with apple, lemon-lime, and green mango. Smooth, round, and easy-drinking but with enough hints of acid and minerality to play well with food.
