Strong varietal Agiorgitiko. Lovely easy drinking red.

Decent wine. Some nice cherry fruit. Some earth and spice. Distinctive Old World nose. Good acidity. Nice sour finish. A food wine for sure, but I can see this would be good with Mediterranean dishes of all kinds. $13...a decent wine for the price.

Lactic bouquet with a lot of cherry yoghurt. On the palate herbs and spices, a lot of acidity and bitterness. Also a hint of sweet impressions. A mouth full of wine, but not really refined.

Medium ruby colored in the glass with medium intensity aromas of cherry, pomegranate, cranberry, dill and sea air. The palate is dry with medium (+) acidity and medium tannins. I get tart flavors of red fruit with some zippiness alongside some green dill notes and the saline component. This wine is medium bodied and carries through to a dry, medium length finish. Well, here it is. Fresh and clean, in its own way.

A little bit more Syrah like, a little bit more barnyard. And also fresh and clean. BUt I think the very cool temperature is helping it.

At the beginning of the evening, I much preferred Xinomavro but this grew on me with air. Color is more light garnet. Nose is more international with red fruit, light oak, a bit creamy and a bit medicinal. Light/medium body. There is fruit but a tad underripe and again the tannin is strong. Good with food but the last glass with football is a bit less pleasing. Don’t see this getting better with age. (87)

First Agiorgitiko I’ve tried. Dark maroon purple color. Aroma of dark fruit, leather, prune, vanilla, raspberry, marjoram, cream, fig, and toast. Needs some air or time to shine. Store from 2-8 years. Great match with grilled lamb. Low acidity, medium tannins, nice fruity complexity.
