Now near peak, I think, though colour suggests plenty of life left. Showing the vintage characteristics. It is nicely balanced with a clean finish, and the oak adds a nice bit of body in this rather lean vintage. One more, will keep a while.

Magnum, stored quite well. Preliminary note, just decanted for dinner in 12 hours time 100 miles away. Shows the persistent acid of the vintage, a bit of a sharp twist presumably from the oak. Nice colour, not far evolved. We will see what the cabernet drinkers think...more later... The wine looked very nice, very fine. To my taste there was still a bit (not much) of oak twist, but others either didn't notice it or in other cases actually liked …

still dark and showing little age. Somewhat closed now. Needs some years. edit: looking at it in the cold light of the morning, the colour is showing some age, and it's more supple in the mouth. Still needs age.

Not the most complex, but easily enjoyed and still open for business. Relatively red-fruited, with an out- and easygoing expressiveness to the plush fruit. Soft tannins; this doesn't feel like one for the ages, but you definitely get some pretty good bang for your buck here.

Very dark in color. Not so much in the nose , but got better during the evening. Wait.

Really enjoying how well this is showing. Like 2009 and 2015, the fears of poorly managed ripeness have been far overblown. This is ripe, yes, but it is incredibly fresh and lifted as well. A beautiful nose with lots of fruity perfume and a slight hint of iron. The palate shows a little dark-fruited, but it's still light with plenty of counterbalancing acidity. Another average bottle of Berthaut-Gerbet which means, of course, that it is an outstanding wine.

Nice bottle. Initially a little tight, but really opened up with some air and swirling. Pure red fruit and cherry with a little bit of meatiness. Drink or hold.

Still young. Transparent with youthful meniscus. Nose lively and pure, almost voluptuous. Mouthfeel integrated and savoury, almost salty. Tannin evident but luxurious and totally harmonious. I'm glad that I have a few more of these. Try again in 2 years- no hurry- but I might have trouble keeping my hands off them. Additional comment: next day it seemed a bit more tannic, so my rave should be tempered. In my defence, I had just had a 2007 Chateauneuf so the …
