Short decant ok, smooth tannins, solid syrah, has more time.

Typical cali Syrah flavors, smooth and lush, meaty. A little flat in the mid palate, medium finish. Decanted 2 hrs, try more next bottle.

14.6% abv. Recent auction purchase. I'll pretty much echo SILTON's note - solid, if unremarkable syrah. Plenty of fruit, not particularly interesting flavor profile, with some blueberry and just the smallest hint of iron and meat. On the fruit forward side, but good balance overall.

Past its prime but not bad. Smells like a savory, gentle, promising Syrah. Palate even more generic and laid back, with black and red berry fruit. Smooth like a luxury Merlot and the flavor is more fruity than flat. No smoke presence/taint as I had with some Sonoma wines in 2008. Recent retail purchase. Drink now 88+

I bought a bunch of these and sort of forgot about them. Every time I return back with low expectations and every time I come away impressed. Very well made, clearly Californian syrah, that touches a lot of pleasure sensors for drinkers. Stylistically, it's big and a bit soft, but the fruit is really nice and some secondary savory flavors have developed. I don't know if the QPR is a winner, but they are nice, well made wines.

Excellent Syrah from a great producer. Wonderful nose of dust, pencil shaving, earth. Bordeaux on the nose essentially. Dark fruit, expressive notes of cocoa and lavender.

Happy Accident. I have a few vintages of this one, and they don't make it anymore. Sadly. But I pulled the '08 and not the '05 I had planned. But it's lovely. Though youngish. Great nose of spice and bacon fat. Rich fruit on the palette. Great wine, drink now, but save it for 5 years if you want. It's all good.

Nice showing from Red Car. Notes of violets and bitter chocolate on the nose. Starts more acidic but after 1.5 hours opens a touch to nice dark red berry fruit on the tongue. Light finish.

Still singing. But glad I am having this before it turns downhill. Tannins softening, but still with lots of power. Blueberry, cedar, violets ... Still jammy.

Red Car Wine Dinner (Ripple - Cleveland Park - Washington, DC) : Nose shows blueberries, plum sauce, violets and milk chocolate. Richer than all the other wines, with blueberry, bold coffee, vanilla and black pepper-soy sauce. Full, bold, but clearly well-made with a lot of concentration. Time ahead. As a boxing fan, I gotta love the label.

Not showing as well as it did in the tasting room last month, but still a nice coastal syrah. The nose bursts with lavender, forest floor, and black plum, with hints of smokey bacon and black pepper. The palate is less complex, with dark fruits and earth dominating. Not terribly complex, but a tasty, well-made syrah that was worth the money.

Cedar, tobacco, blackberry, blueberry, smoke. Firm and gripping tannins. A lot of structure, and plenty left in the tank. Wonderful accompaniment to roasted meat on a cold winter evening.

Ok, no special wine talk, this is just a great wine. It elicits a "wow" factor from those that drink it. Wonderful wine, great nose and smooth finish.
