Ojai Syrah California

This is really in the sweet spot; just delicious Syrah.

Dark purple in color, Nose is lavender, blackberry, bluebberry, currant. Palate is mediaum with nice fruit and spice, particularly after opening up. Some drying tannins on the finish. Nice wine, lighter than expected based on color and nose, but pleasant. Much better with a pepperoni pizza, and actually that was an excellent pairing. Young wine that needs at least an hour decant now. Should improve for next 3-4 years.

A bit on the sweet side for me. But certainly a quite enjoyable straightforward (but well-balanced) quaffer with a nice fruity zing of acid. This would be especially great in the summer at a barbecue.

Ripping good

Don't let 'California' designation fool you. This is serious Syrah! Dark, brooding color, and dense weight and mouthfeel. Finish goes on forever. I won't use the 'M' word so lets just say a vampire might find this appealing. Not much pepper like Adam's cooler climate stuff but lots of dark, dark fruit after a short decant
