Still very young and it could certainly improve with 5 more years of age. Dark and brooding fruit that is still condensed/dried but also with plenty of acidity. Good lenght and overall a great wine for a winter night.

Deep ruby. On the nose aromas of medium plus intensity displaying dried fruits (raisins, prunes), spice (cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg), fresh blackberries and black cherries, toast, leather, pine, menthol. On the palate the wine is dry with medium plus acidity, high fine ripe tannins, high alcohol, full bodied with dried fruits, fresh black fruits and red cherries and spices, toast, chocolate, prunes, herbs - high intensity flavor palate. The finish is long with chocolate and spice on the finish. this is …

200308: Second pour from Coravin. More developed nose with figs and raisin touch. Could easily be stored for more complexity. Very good and less heavy impression than last time. 190818; Young and vital. Packed with cherry fruit and obviously a full bodied, dense, multilayered wine. Some heat, very long finish. Tannins are there but they are almost drowned by the fruit. Very pleasant but I wouldn't drink too much at a time of this big wine. 91-93p. Great in small …

The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like fig. The body is full. The wine has bright texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity. Starts a bit sour and finishes spicy and delightful. 2nd and 3rd sip get better and better. Delicious with smoked provolone cheese and Italian salamis.

Frightfully young at 14 years old! Deep crimson plummy purple darkness right out to the rim. Thick slow legs. Initial shy nose that opens up into crushed blackberry, raspberry, black olive tapanade, anise, buckskin, hot rocks and dried herbs. Super smooth and mouthfilling. The flavours just keep on expanding as they coat your mouth. Ripe and rich and bursting full of dark fruits. Huge extract! Filigree tannins and a dry, slightly bitter finish that goes on and on. A touch …

1997 Amarone Horisontal + Quintarelli (Copenhagen) : Dark and dense. Dark sweet cherries and harsh young tannins. Unstructured and alcoholic. Just seems unresolved and needs more time.

Great scent of ripe fruit, plums, blackberries, mocha and barrel. Full-bodied in the mouth, with quite young tannins that makes your tongue stick to the palate . A powerful Amarone, with all the ingredients in place, however, very young. Needs 3-5 years to mature.

Tasted at Serego Alighieri Nose has a LOT of cherries and some other dark ripe berries, the cherries are there in your face. It is a very powerful and pleasant smell. Palate is very similar. It has loads of cherry flavours and is quite balanced overall in acidity, tannins and has a powerful taste. I enjoyed this quite a lot. I do prefer this at least Young over the other standard Masi amarone. Have no idea how it is aged.

One of the better offerings at Pappas' Amarone tasting. This wine has an incredible nose and is already very elegant and refined despite its 15.5% alcohol and its relative youth. It is made in a more traditional, restrained style and is likely to improve over the next five years.

Intense, fairly developed nose of dried fruits, dates and cinnamon. The palate is medium sweet, intense, structured with good grip and acidity. Enjoyable, but I had hoped for a bit more complexity. Long, decent complexity. Drank with my parents and wife at our Birthday dinner.

Dark, heady extremly concentrated with ripe banana, liqourice, dark chocolate, tobacco and balancing minerals. I am not too fond of Amarone, but this works. Maybe a tad too powerful for food, could be paired great with strong cheeses?

W nosie skóra, beczka i słowka. W ustach słodki atak i fajnie zbalansowany alkohol. Wino proste, mało różnorodne, ale bardzo zacne ! Pilismy razem z Walukiewiczami

Vibrant ruby red color. Nose of red cherry and plums. Not your traditional overtly chocolate and raisiny Amarone, their essences are subtle here. If you are expecting a sweeter, jammier style of wine you will be disappointed, this needs to be approached with an open mind. More elegance and femininity than you'll find in most Amarone. Simply gorgeous. Has become a new favourite.

Still, in my opinion, a very good amarone. Well concentrated aromas with plums, cherries and other dark fruits, some spice and the "dry wood" (not oak) I remember from earlier tastings. Full and rich in the mouth, but not too jammy, and with good freshness and some tannins. A pleasing finish with a hint of bitter almonds. Drunk with a very good filet of deer. I found the wine a bit too rich for this food - last year's pairing …

Tasted in Italy, this was tight, and perhaps reflecting its recent release showed some barrel influence and somewhat subdued aromatic notes of red cherry and red flowers. Big, mouthfilling and somewhat tannic, with simplistic red fruit flavors. Not sure where this is going.

I have tasted this wine on a couple of occations, and it is so far one of my favourite Amarones. While having the sweetish and warm raisiny taste elements typical for this style, this is not so huge and overwhelming that it masks the fresher fruits. The wine is not as sweet and jammy as some Amarones, and it retains pleasant refreshing acids. This also makes it go well with some foods, unlike some "bigger" Amarones. Last we had it …

Fullbodied amarone such as this one usually puts me off, however this one was quite different: not drowned in too sweet thick fruit, however more earthy with a forrest/undergrowth sensation (a similar flavor that I quite often detect in Vino Nobile or Brunello). Either way, while I enjoyed the more earthy flavors it's still a large, fullbodied simple wine. I have another bottle that I'll try in five years?
