Dark ruby color at the core with very slight bricking at the rim. Plummy aromas and flavors. Tannins resolved but still good structure and energy. Better than expected after 26 years, drink now; may hold on for another 1-2 yrs.

Deep and dark, drank well for a wine probably past its prime. If I had more, would drink them in the next year. Great with a lasagna bolognese.

Unique and quite delicious. Worried a little as the cork was stained all the way through, but all was well. Definitely has an 'aged' aroma now. Very dark in color, almost black. Extremely aromatic and a very complex and layered palate. Heaps of blackberry, raspberry, mineral, licorice, sandalwood, herbs, leather, spice, dried flowers. Full bodied, nicely balanced and a long finish. Definitely at or near peak. An extraordinary wine from Compania area.

Solidly in a mature phase at this point but its likely just gotten here. Lighter tannin than you might expect for the type. Requisite figgy cherry and lava rock notes. Rich palate still in terms of density. Lots of glycerin. Solid acidity and stout tannin. This hasn't really gotten to an elegant point but given the house we shouldn't expect that progression. Good wine in a bigger way. I'm guessing this solidly mature spot is good for at least a …

Decanted for 3h. Earthy sandalwood perfume, some vanilla too. On the palate, black berries and ripe plum, spices, mineral, yes some chewy tannins still, and a great acid with echoes of black pepper in the finish too. Smooth, classy, and delicious, surprisingly youthful and still in its drinking window IMO. Perfect tonight with pan seared duck on a Fri night. This is one of my favorite Italian producers, but alas my last bottle.

Delivers a singular but powerful message, although now with the wisdom of age. Still has plenty of time left. It now seems to be shaking off the last bit of tannin, which is in that phase which makes for a bit of a dusty finish. Otherwise, probably would warrant a higher score. Paired really well with a tomato basil risotto.

Great texture, length, flavor, balance and longevity. A big step up from Serpico. Drink now it’s fantastic but no danger of falling apart.

Tasted blind. Red fruit, dark chocolate, and slightly rustic on the pretty nose. Nice acidity with red berries, fruit, and tart blood orange notes on the palate. Good structure with still powerful, drying tannins. Quite long finish. I liked this very much.

CORKED! I was able to see the big burly wine from the other notes before the TCA made this unbearable. It's clearly not a wine that is in danger of falling off anytime soon.

Delicious. 20 years in, and still nearly primary. A big wine -- probably too big for the weather in which we drank it -- but nonetheless outstanding. With pasta sauced with Teddy's Principia Borghese tomatoes, oven-dried, and a lot of oven-crisped rosemary. Next time, try this in cooler weather with something grilled.

Excellent, dry but very ripe and rich. Lots of character, dry savoury brush, currant and leather notes with cherry plum fruit. Complex interesting and powerful. Excellent wine.

Italian Wine Night in Philadelphia (Union League Club's Cellar 62) : Double decanted around 2pm then transported to Philadelphia for the Italian wine night, I thought this showed nicely with good balance and finesse despite it being a fairly big, powerful wine. 14% ABV. It is a dark garnet but still quite young looking. There are violets, plum and a whiff of alcohol on the nose. The palate is fresh and full of black fruit, black cherry, black raspberry and …

Decanted 3hrs. Strong cedar notes suggest maturatity, paired with some lovley dark cherry and balsalmic traits, excellent nose. While this wine will always have a modern polish, hard to deny the quality here. Dark cherry is respected again on the palate, perfectly integrated tannins, wood is balanced giving a slight creamyfeel, good acidity. The finish is where you see this is Agalinico - dust and the like. Great bottle of wine.

Texas Wine School. Decanted for sediment and aerated for a couple of hours, this Aglianico keeps getting better and better. Deep ruby with some garnet hues on the rim. It is thick and extracted and has thick legs. The nose is clean, intense, with ripe blackberry, black cherry, dried black plum, coffee, balsamic, licorice, tobacco and leather. The nose is developing (+) but not overly tertiary. The palate is dry, medium (+) acidity, medium (+) to pronounced, chewy tannins and …

a pleasure to drink this now, perfect round and ripe tannins, lots of spices and herbs, if only the fruits would show more I would have scored it higher. lasted about 3 hours before dropping.

Texas Wine School Wines of Italy Class. This wine should be decanted to give it a chance to open up and because it is throwing off a lot of sediment. It is a deep ruby with a little garnet on the rim. It is thick and extracted. The nose is clean, with ripe black cherry, black plum, coffee, balsamic and savory spices. The nose is developing (+) but the palate is still quite youthful. The palate is dry, with some …

Decanted 2 hours, consumed over two hours alongside grilled top sirloins. Aside from a good amount of fine sediment at the bottom of the bottle, this seemed way more youthful than its 18 years. Dense and dark and extracted but harmonious and rich. Just a little reduction or VA or something lingering after the decant, but it blew off with swirling. Still decently-structured, showing dried black cherries, beef broth (especially on the nose), dust, cocoa powder, a bit of integrated …

This wine is still tight and muscular, despite being decanted for more than two hours. It is very dark, thick and extracted. The nose is clean, with ripe black cherry, blackberry, plum, and distinctive aromas of balsamic, and savory spices. The nose is developing (+). Decanted three hours. This wine is in a really good spot at present, all signs point towards it being fully mature and ready to go. Dark cherry and plum reveal a good deal of complexity, oak appears to have been fully integrated though I don't recall it standing out on my last two bottles that I drink in 07 and 12. Mid palate shows the Aglianico signature of brick dust and such, and pretty long on the finish. Pretty is …

a huge wine with a ton of fruit, but very well balanced. technicolor presentation on the palate (but only slight sweetness), with smooth, fine-grained tannins on the very long finish. i don't see this as anywhere near decline.
