Twelftree Wines Mourvèdre Ryan Road Willunga

I've heard Mourvèdre tends to be 'rustic', but this wine is packed with sweet and juicy fruit, with no funky barnyard notes. It's liqueur-like, with strong (but smooth) alcohol, soft tannin, and just enough acidity to keep the fruit from being cloying. Initially shows flavours of Chambord and fresh raspberry, backed by notes of graphite, cumin, and forest floor. WOW! The age has done this wine a lot of favours. Licorice, dark & red fruits, a touch of dried fruit, cracking spice notes, a little woodiness, balanced acidity, fine tannins and good length too. Dropped off a bit on day #2 but still very enjoyable! A great score on Langtons for $18 a btl 🤘🤘
