Sehr dunkle Farbe. Deutlich merlotbetonte Nase. Auch viel Alkohol. DIe Komplexität leidet etwas darunter. Am Gaumen reichlich, aber runde tannine ohne Ecken und Kanten. Schöne tiefe dunkle und rote Früchte. Recht gute Balance, aber fraglich ob er die Komplexität, die für Bordeaux typisch ist, einmal erreicht

Solid full bodied Bordeaux, rather dark. With enough tanins for the next 5 years. Expected a bit more after reading the latest falstaff magazine. But for 22€ this is a fine wine.

This bottle was not ready to drink...but wonderful potential...maybe 2026? Nez : fruits rouges...baies, épices-bois, cannelle, petites fleurs sauvages, sous-bois, écorce, soupçon minéral...calcaire. Beaucoup de matière en bouche...tannins poussiéreux. Un vin charnu / charpenté avec des saveurs de fruits noirs et d'épices. Complexe et structuré. Prochaine bouteille après 2026. 88++

Selection Schwander, selected by Switzerland's first MW. If you are looking for a 20€ right bank bottle that will please both a larger crowd and connoisseurs alike, this is your wine. Very good aromatics as so typical for 2016, with excellent freshness and drinkability. I love the dark fruit, spices, earthy elements here, light on its fee but not thin. This is why we love today's Bordeaux in the low price segment. Cheap, but never simple. Highly recommended!

Medium garnet. Med+ intensity. Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, red plum, leather, raisins, quince. Medium acidity. Med+ tannins. Medium+ finish. Very good wine and excellent value. Could be kept longer but suspect this wine is in a good drinking window.

1998 vintage

Savoury plums with a firm backbone of acidity developing spice and tannin. After a promising start, a musty note crept in and the finish was a tad bitter. From past experience I might have expected a little more richness and a better finish which convinced me that this was corked. As it stands 85 pts but I’m marking the bottle as faulty.

Tasted the 1997 and 1998. Was surprised by how dark red both wines were after 25+ years. Initial nose was berries. The '98 was a little more earthy. Very smooth. Subtle tannins. Long finish. '97 was longer finish. Personally preferred the '97.

Very good wine. Dense palate, ripe fruit, deep nose. Be careful though: not tannic at all. Ready to pop and pour. Very interesting to pair with a filet mignon (mild sauce) or a fondue bourguignonne. On top of that, 2016 is certainly a good year.

92 vvPunkte Dichtes Rubin. Herrliche Nase, dunkelfruchtig, florale Töne, getrocknete Kräuter, ein Hauch blonder Tabak, schwarze Schokolade. Im Gaumen kräftig im Auftakt, dennoch sehr frisch, feinste Gerbstoffe, reife, dunkle Frucht, natürlich, das ist noch sehr jugendlich und wild, doch die innere Balance stimmt. Dieser Wein wird sehr gut reifen und so manchem "grösseren Wein" das Wasser reichen können. Top gelungen. 2026-2042 (April 2021)

Forward, round, silky, soft, fresh and fruity, the wine delivers its blend of chocolate covered cherry, espresso, smoke and licorice effortlessly. Medium-bodied with ample, dark cocoa and a hint of peppery plums in the finish, this is already a treat in the glass.

Deep dark red colour , some fading at the rim. Decanted with just a little sediment. Rich dark fruit on the nose, brambles and plums, cloves. Touch on pencil shaving. What a nuanced nose! Forest freshness, with ripe fruit and a touch of spice. Bravo! The attack is brisk and smooth at once, mid palate is juicy, but just a but drying on the finish - alas! - which detracts from the final score... Purchased on a trip to bordeaux in 2004. What a pleasant surprise. Fronsac is a little known subregion north of Pomerol. This winery has a fantastic private tour of their wine caves. Awesome. 1998 La Riviere opened up with three layers of enjoyment. Still had ripe fruit.....earthy bordeaux notes and a leathery finish. Cheers. Coach87
