This wine was still giving with fruit, yet smooth on the tannins... Beautiful color and all around very impressive for an '04 for RRV, Lynmar is one of the most underrated wines out there... This pinot could go against the big boys just about any time...

Holding up nicely. Plenty of dark cherry fruit, with some earth and a good acid backbone.

Opened this one up after setting aside a corked '05 vintage from the same vineyard(s). Nose: Notes of tar and coal dominate upon opening. Given a little time to open up in the glass, the wine exhibits dark cherry with a layer of charcoal underneath. Color: wine tending towards dark brick overall, but no visual evidence of being over the hill. Taste: Needs some air (decant or use a Vinturi or other device) to bring out the dark fruit - …

This bottle is definitely not "finished". The bouquet remains fresh and fruity. On the palate the wine shows age, it is evolving, but it remains a classy and complex Pinot. This is my last bottle but we certainly enjoyed it!

This bottle has turned...not spoiled, just way past it's prime. Hope not much of this is still around.

If you are holding any of this vintage it is definitely time to drink. Initially a little disappointing, but with a little time it opened up. Drank this along side the Emeritus William Wesley 07, and a Siduri Cargasacchi 05. The Emeritus was #1, the Siduri #2, and the Lynmar #3.

Was beginning to lose its nuanced RRV pedigree, and wasn't integrating particularly well - not what I was hoping. Honestly if I had another I would probably hold for a year because there is still a tinge of heat, which leads to believe it could evolve a tad.

Quite nice earthy flavors and nose. Good fruit. Just a bit of heat. Overall nice complexity.

Well balanced slightly earthy with hints of cherry with nice finish. A little light in its body, did not decant. Not the best Pinot out there, but a good wine.

Nose: Cherry, strawberry and rubber (!?). Palate: Soft, lots of strawberries, raspberries and cola. Decent finish. A very good wine.

Decanted for 1 hour, poured back into bottle. Very interesting, light to medium bodied wine but juicy. Nice tones of cherry, strawberry, light cola action with hints of dust and spice. Palate and finish was a little tart but the acidity was nicely balanced. However by hour 4, this wine had really fallen off track and next time I will drink within the first 2 hours.

This was a hard bottle to understand. The nose displayed great complexity with smoke, cherries, earth, soy, and spicy cinnamon. In the mouth, the fruit is crisp with tart cherry and cranberries framed with cocoa and cinnamon. Sounds good, huh? Where it really fell apart was when the structure kicked in. This light-bodied wine has high acidity, giving the wine great lift, but the 14.4% alcohol pokes through making the surprisingly short finish quite hot. Overall, this wine is quite …

A dark rich purple color with an edge of red...very nice nose showing some ripe red berries and tart dark cherry with a hint of heat. Aggresive, but engaging entry and fruit grip that had a light to medium fruit grip that accerated and gave a lingering finish...showing through the transition several nice layers of texture and personality. It was very nice by itself, and paired well with food. Open and poured without decanting and it was right on track...but …

nose: nice bright cherry on the nose with some raspberry and spice with slight cola notes taste: good polished fruit of bright cherry, raspberry, cola, with vanilla and spice notes overall: nice balanced fruit while still being fruit forward. Nice smooth attack with a silky texture on the palate with a nice cherry finish

Light but broad Pinot bouquet. In contrast with the previous bottle, a Mountford Pinot, this seemed muted aromatically, less lively, muddied, and a little dull. Perhaps this was my palate or the lack of decanting time, but I think this may also be the contrast between the clean purity of the Kiwi Pinot and the rather full, fruitier RRV. It's a good wine. I just like other (crisper, cleaner, sharper) styles better...or did tonight.

Dinner at BLU in Montclair with Harry and Pam. Nice - but nothing special - food was very good - grilled octopus with white beans and black olive broth and then halibut with asparagas and mushrooms with black trufffle broth.

Bri’s: More plush, ripe red frt; straw-rasp, w/hint cin. “cherry pie”, “cola”; Round, generous, beaut. frt mth, soft mth, nice, very nice & easy going. Less intense than others, but actually had some structure too. Hint swt spice in there too. Yum.

Dark garnet color and a very fruity nose of dark berries, some cherry and a little spice. Elegant entry and mouth feel with abundant fruit flavor, almost fat, with an accent on raspberry and a cranberry edge...giving a very tasty quality and barely enough acidity to frame it...again the fruit was almost over the top, with a medium to firm finish that was very nice and lingering, and it did hold up very will with a dry aged NY strip …

This took a while to evolve. Upon popping and pouring, the fruit was showing but masked by some alcohol and a little bit of an astringent quality. After a few hours, this wonderful, jammy, dark fruit aroma started to emerge. Flash forward to day two. The astringency is gone, the tannins, oak, and fruit are well integrated. A wonderful wine that'd I'd drink any day, with a few hours of decanting in advance!

Spicy, raspberry, and blackberry nose that seemed to make the soft finish a surprise. Smooth, lingering finish was balanced. Drank with a pan roasted filet mignon and it paired perfectly. Overall a great wine and decent value. Has enough body to age well and could probably even use some more time cellaring.

Smooth, velvety body. Ripe and fresh fruit abound. Long lingering finish that lasted 10-15 seconds. For the money, I have not tasted a superior pinot.

Russian River Barrel Tastings (Siduri, Lynmar, Woodenhead, Swan, Marimar) (Russian River, California) : Very intriguing, earthy, sous bois nose; delicious, Burgundian, with good acid and balance, light medium body with grip; medium-plus finish with hints of brown sugar (should age very well)
