Santo Wines Volcanic Terroir

Recommend and a good QPR wine. The volcanic terroir adds an interesting twist that based on the previous notes is not for everyone. With proper cellaring this should go for a few years. More masculine than feminine, and at that a bit of a dark-alley brute. Deep, saturated gold color with dry yellow fruits and stoney minerality. Not a fan.

Light golden yellow color, much darker than I expected from its age. Tastes a bit matured too - robust steely square shaped Assyrtico acidity is there, but a little rounded/modest than other bold Santorini I had before. Aromatically, lemon, orange peel, and dark acacia honey, with touch of matured depth, again rounder/warmer than other Santorini. Some oak/woodiness which is not unpleasant but questionable. In Burgundy chardonnay analogy, this is definitely dense/acidic macon-like (pouilly fuisse), not Chablis or Meursault or Puligny. …

Citrus and saline nose when chilled, the wine exhibits more earthiness and “heaviness” as it warms. Body is medium and taste is very dry. Nice with baked tilapia topped with a Greek compote.

Super bright, with nice underlying body. Very dry, needs food, and best drunk @ about 45 - 50 degrees F.
