Typical Tawny flavors dark fruits raisin Plum Cherry. Less sweet than a lot of tawny's with a very smooth balance

Simple. Basic. True to form without depth or complexity. Not bad. (87)

Just fine as it goes. But where did my palate go?
Taster #5804 · Sep 16, 2025
Tasted as part of preparing for WSET D5 exam. This wine is outstanding. I agree with Jancis that it's clean and easy to enjoy. There is significant development, but there is still plenty of dried fruit--it's a nice balance between primary (albeit developed) and oxidative aromas. It's has great concentration and a lingering, delicious finish.

A Tawny with breath, depth, complexity offering a lemon streak to balance the sweet notes. There is heat on entry quickly forgotten in the array of tastes.

Still fresh and young. But be prepared: Sweeeet.

Caramel, toffee, some astringency along with the sweetness. Fairly simple but also a decent example of the category. My bottle was bottled 2020. This is not going to get any better.

Just drank this very nice LBV and found it to be fresh and lively with very pleasant notes and some complexity. Will save my second bottle for a good occasion but found it to be drinking very well right now and based on how long it as lasted, would expect more to come.

20 years in barrel. Smells much more rancio, but in a really darn good way. Orange zest, burnt sugar, delicious. Really woody in the retro nasal kinda way.
Taster #2659 · Sep 16, 2024
Good color, crystalline caramel. There's heat on the palate, alcohol fumes are a distraction. lacking complexity.

Raisins, smoke, coffee and toffee, pleasant sweetness and also good acidity. Good 10 years old.

Dark brown, clear glass Strong raisin, toffee and candied apple aromas. Big tearing. Flavor has big sweetness, choc full of caramel, cinnamon spice, and hazelnuts. It’s got some alcohol heat on the back palate that chews up the flavors quickly and runs them out of town.

hadnt had a tawny in years, i grabbed a bottle a few weeks ago, finished it a few days ago , label said bottled in 2023, was a great nightcap that evolved over the two weeks i sipped it, ill be cracking the 20 year old soon, exotic peach notes at time , if you want a critique the finish is short but hey its 10 year dont expect too much

At Frontera Grill BTG. Was pleasantly surprised. Still has a bit of youthful ruby character, some tannin, not totally transformed into the nutty and caramel side of an older tawny.
Taster #6171 · Nov 29, 2023
Smells like sweet burnished fruit and green tannins.
Taster #6171 · Oct 30, 2023
Has a bit of an old burnished wood note to it. Kinda a furry green note. On the other hand, I haven't been tasting much Port these days.

Blind Tasting - Port Tawny 10 YO or plus (Flat Bush, Auckland) : light flavours in this flight, dry fruits, caramel and orange peel, some oak and savoury notes and alcohol warm in finish. well integrated and nice balance between sweetness and acidity. Decanter 93, WS 91, WE 89 I voted #1 to this for the best elegance and balance, thought it's Grahams 20 YO. #4 by the group. obviously I'm not an old school Tawny lover. Ap 5/5, Ar …

Purchased for $43. Tasted for #tawnytuesday Clear burnt caramel and rusted orange in color. This is incredibly light for a 20-Year. Lined up next to the 10-Year, and I couldn't tell the difference. Initial nose of candied fruits and candied nuts. Opened to reveal caramel, golden raisin and fig. Then blossomed into peach and black tea. On the palate, the structure here is excellent. Everything is just in perfect balance. The acidity and tannins are in perfect harmony. This coats …

Purchased for $22. This is extremely light for a 10-Year tawny. Color of darker orange with hints of ruby and an almost pinkish/magenta. On the nose, I get lots of almonds and golden raisin. The nose of very light. Almost "dainty". On the palate, sweet almonds are prevalent with some lighter, sweet citrus notes, almost like candied citrus. Lighter, fainter notes... similar to the nose. Unfortunately, the Port is out of balance with noticable and firm heat on the finish. …

Light rosy garnet color, faded brick. Smells like raisins, prune, plum, dried dark fruits, butterscotch, caramel, walnuts, cedar, fennel, some floral undertones, some fresh green like maybe parsley?—enjoying smelling this. Medium (+) body, good acidity and long finish, some sweetness but balanced by acid and alc punch. Tastes like strawberry, cherry, lemon, watermelon candy, black tea, and honey. We enjoyed this one with the family movie night.

A: Pale tawny N: Medium nose white pepper, bruised pear, bruised apple, honey, fig, hazelnuts, dried orange peel, leather P: Sweet, medium (+) acid but could be medium as well...its on the cusp, medium ripe tannin, medium (+) intensity and finish Outstanding quality. Don't know how one would tell this from a Medium or Cream Sherry in a blind tasting. The bruised fruit thing was strong here. Might be because the bottles been open for months.

D5 DipWSET FORTIFIED WINES - home prep : Pale tawny Medium (+) nose of white pepper, dried citrus/oranges, raisins, Carmel, honeyed figs, allspice, hazelnut, leather Sweet, medium (+) acidity, high alcohol, medium slightly course tannin full body, medium (+) intensity and medium (+) finish Not cloying. the alcohol and acidity are helping balance the sugar here. The leather/tobacco persists longer than the sweetness in this fine intensity and good length in this complex wine. It iargely tertiary but has some …

Pours a pale garnet. Only medium - intensity of aromas here. Salted caramel, walnuts, cashews. Some dried red fruits - cherries and raspberries. Medium sweet with a full body and high alcohol. Less fruit-driven than other Tawny Ports.

Medium tawny colour. Medium nose with caramel, cinnamon, dried orange, raisin, honey and chocolate. Pronounced taste of raisin, caramel, cinnamon, honey and chocolate. Long and sweet finish. Medium acidity. Full body. A great Tawny. Goes well with caramel based deserts.

Bottled 2016. This is not improving in bottle. Two years ago it was fine and last year it was still okay, but it seems to have lost almost all its fruit by now, and it is above all salty and woody, and slightly hot on the finish, which has a touch of lowland whisky which I like.

Bottled 2016. Almost identical to my tasting note from December 2017, except that I get a little less fruit on the nose this time and the palate feels a bit more zesty. Even though I like the elegant Warre style, I remain slightly underwhelmed by the finish. But is has enough finisse to warrant a decent score.
